Cutting cassava branches that is to be used for planting
HELLO HIVE
Cassava is one of the most easily propagated crop for me as a farmer with a gestation period that is longer than crops like maize, it is easy to cultivate and harvest with a high market demand due to the reduced amount of cultivation caused by factors that are mostly man made.
Propagating cassava is a lot more easier since there is no need for seeds or it's tuber all that's need is the stem from any fresh cassava plant around then we can plant that, small parts of the stem will be used as seeds to propagate the new plant all that we need is to place the small branch into the soil in a horizontal pattern with some parts of the stem in the ground and the other part outside it and we are done but before that the land has to under go some preparations like clearing and cultivation and it is also advisable to apply herbicides after cultivation and before planting it reduces weed activities to some extent.
I am not ready to plant yet am looking towards the coming weeks when I am free cassava stems can last that long without drying up as long as it is not exposed to sunlight had to collect the stems from a friends farm before other farmers get to it, it is not easy to get fresh stems to plant during this period because we just came out of months that had scorching heat that means that have affected some parts of the farm.
