Beauty in a dark background| Watercolor portrait painting

The picture I selected as a reference for my today's portrait is of a beautiful model standing over a dark background. I tried to copy the exact colour saturation different between the background and foreground as in the picture to my work as I believe the two complementary saturation levels may shares a brightening effect mutually, which means the dark portion would give more highlights to my main subject here.
