An epidemic in our country:Corruption
One can attest to the fact that the rate of corruption in the country and even Africa as a whole is disturbing.
Corruption has tendered to render its ugly heard in almost all areas or sectors of the country ranging from the political sector to the public sector, to the health sector to the sports sector, etc...
We were all saddened when we heard about the recent scandal by our honourable minister.
How bad can this get, we ask ourselves
Why is it so?
Why does it look like the basis of our country and its policies stand on corruption?
One major cause in my view is the kind of mindset the people have.
We have a particular mindset that once we get into power, we have to enrich ourselves and our families because the previous leaders did the same, and this mindset is causing the death of our country.
The campaign promises and the needs of the citizens; the reason they were voted into power becomes a secondary issue.
They squander the money and use it for their gains, ignoring the cries and laments of the people.
This is so sad but the reality of the matter.
This canker has led to the rate of unemployment and social vices in the country. The resources our leaders are to use to create more jobs due to increasing population, they are not able to do so because they've already used part for their personal budget.
They forget that once the youth have no jobs and a need to survive, they would do anything to survive.
We hear more about Cyberfraud and armed robbery in the country in recent times. This is because that is what the youth have resorted to: they are interested in white-collar jobs with a substantial wage and since the government can't provide that, and they don't also want to engage in menial jobs, they end up in these vices; the easiest and fastest way to get a good amount of money.
Even though corruption has gained a firm stand in our society and would be hard to be done with, I think it can be reduced if our leaders decided to change their mindsets.
If they are content with their wages, selfless, and think more about the people they are to serve, then the rate of corruption can decrease.
This is our saddest reality. Honestly we see corruption each and everyday, in traffic, offices and our society at large.
This can only be treated from the grassroots, from our early beginnings to be nurtured into corrupt-free individuals. Else, it will follow us wherever we go.
Well said
The question is, who is going to nurture these corrupt-free doctrine into our young individuals as it looks like there is no pure soul in the system?

I don't really know when corruption will end in this country
Hoping it reduce to it minimum
Hope so too😪
It is indeed a very sad thing to see the rate at which corruption has taken over the country. We hope there will be strong measures to curb this, even though there is doubt we could arrive at a corruption-free country. Thanks for the enlightenment
