Paper flower and a trip to the family.
Taking a walk in a park I found myself on a journey, a journey back in time, back to the days when I was a child.
This plant that has this wonderful flower is known as Santa Rita or Flor de papel and its petals really look like paper.
Coming across them in large quantities suddenly took me on a beautiful trip down memory lane.
When I was a child, my great-uncles and great-uncles, whom I adored, lived opposite my house.
At the entrance to the house there were these plants, always in bloom and always beautiful. They were especially purple and glowed with life in the sunlight.
So every time I see this flower I remember my aunt and uncle, and I relive entering their house and so many experiences come to my mind.
They were always waiting for my visit, there was always homemade lemon cake.
If it was summer, it was accompanied with grapefruit juice and if it was winter, hot coffee.
My uncle was a very good cook, he had done his military service in the navy's kitchen.
He baked cakes, sweet bread, and biscuits, and he was excellent at it. He also had his own vegetable garden, like a good Italian. He never lacked anything to eat and above all a lot of love.
My aunt was diabetic and that problem put her in a wheelchair, but she always waited for me to watch a film, a romantic one. She was always worried about me. Since I was a child she used to knit me winter clothes looking through the window in her chair.
She couldn't eat sweets, but once in a while she would hide a piece of candy and eat it on the sly. It is difficult to live with such a disease.
My uncles adored me. My great-uncle was also my godfather. He was deaf and you had to shout at him to make him listen. He loved football and tidying up his garden.
The paper flower took me on that trip, a beautiful trip.
When I arrived in Spain I found that there are multiple colours of the same flower and it is wonderful. I often take that mental trip to my aunt and uncle's house.
That house has been renovated and it is not the house I knew as a child, but the memories are strong in my heart, the house, my uncles and their love.
They are no longer on this plane, but every time the paper flower appears beautiful before my eyes I know they are looking at me. I lived very happy moments of my life with them and they will always be in me and in the paper flower.
Thank you all for watching and reading this far. Best regards and see you next time.

Bougainvillea or paper flower! It's a flower I love, I saw it in Greece. In Romania, it cannot survive the winter. I have one in a pot and take it into the house when winter comes, then it blooms.
Like you, I love things that remind me of dear people, happy moments, places, and events. Wonderful and moving memories you have here, triggered by this lovely flower!
I was told that in Greece there are incredible and beautiful colours! It really evokes beautiful memories! Thank you very much @bluemoon ❤️
What a beautiful plant, I love its flowers and that they change colors depending on their species. What beautiful memories these flowers bring, dear friend @avdesing, I appreciate that you let us know these feelings caused by the paper flower.
Have a happy start to the week
Yes, it is really beautiful! Thank you!
Now I'm watching what happened there, I'm from Bahia Blanca.
What a beautiful story I agree with you! Some things remind us of times from the past. Good or bad. Its pretty flowers remind us of good times.
It always brings back good memories and I love it and I see it a lot here. Thank you @cyboule
Thank you!!
Now every time I see my paper flowers I will remember your story, this touching memory that you have shared with us from the deepest part of your being. A big hug. Good memories are the joy of our homes (souls) and we have to let them free to haunt us and give us life.
My uncles are always with me but I remember it when I see those flowers. I have so many stories.... how long have I lived? more than 2000 years? haha
Thank you Nani.
Maybe 🤔
You're welcome!

I had a Santa Rita that my mom burned with kerosene haha poor thing but well, it is a very beautiful flower, I've seen purple, red, yellow, and really looks like paper ❤️
What nice memories this plant brings you, it is very beautiful but not for everyone.
I know Yami, for me it evokes nice memories and for others maybe nothing at all but whenever I see it, those experiences will come back.... what a pity your mother burnt it...😌
