Collection of palms and conifers plus an heirloom in the Botanical Garden πŸ“· MΓ‘laga - Spain

Finding avenues that come and go in the middle of nature is a marvel and even more so if it is accompanied by finding treasures from other eras.

On this visit I made to the city's Botanical Garden, I decided to explore some very particular areas of the map, which, as I have said on other occasions, is very well signposted.

This area is called the palm collection and very close by there is also a specific place for conifers, although there are always a variety of flowers and a very varied natural environment.

For this reason, after entering, I headed straight for the stairs that would take me there. First I came across very narrow paths with a lot of vegetation. It always seems to me to be in a jungle with the most varied species.

20240519_141631.jpg

After walking for a few minutes I could see a road that divided in two, like a big avenue with a roundabout in the middle, only that the roundabout extended very far along the path.

Trees of intense shade with dry leaves underneath, but then I could already see the large place dedicated to palms and conifers in their most varied forms.

The whole place was made up of wide paths, stairs and many flower beds of various sizes displaying the huge collection of palms.

On the tour I could also find all kinds of details about the types of palms, the country they come from and other details on various posters. There were also details of the flowers, bushes and other vegetation of the place.

The avenue along which you can walk and see this beauty is enormous and the flower beds containing the palms are very well maintained and decorated with colourful flowers of many colours.

Walking along this place and trying to look at the completion in the distance makes it feel so huge and endless that it coincides with the desire to linger for a long time in the midst of nature.

Amongst these palm tree beds there were also paths that were dirt roads so you could walk in a natural environment amongst the trees and the green of the plants.

20240519_142329.jpg

20240519_142345.jpg

I then took a more rustic path, where the green of the vegetation became lighter and brighter in the sunlight. I felt like I was in a fairy tale or some magical fairy tale.

The trees glistened and the sun's rays made them look beautiful.

This path led me to a rest area where there was seating and a signposted area where you could eat.

After resting for a while I resumed my walk and a small staircase led me to another avenue, but not before passing through a lot of beautiful vegetation.

It seemed like I was going back, but on a different path, one that had many more signs and comments on signs about plants and flowers.

Being in the midst of so much nature makes you see the beauty of the world and is healing not only for the body but also for the soul.

The trees intertwined with each other in their canopies, producing a great spectacle.

This path also had benches to sit on and most of them were located in shady areas.

Near one of these benches there was a sign telling me about a very old construction.

The San Telmo aqueduct, a construction dating back to the 18th century, a great work that took water from the local mountains and through the descending terrain carried it to different places for more than 10 kilometres.

This is across several bridges and there are more aqueducts like this one. I got as close as I could to get a closer look.

This part supplied water to this whole area and the nearby fields and farms, and was for farming purposes, long before the botanical garden existed.

20240519_151949.jpg

20240519_151818.jpg

After crossing this area, I came across a lot of flowers, uphill and downhill terrain, dirt roads, until I reached the paved avenue of some sort again.

20240519_160529.jpg

20240519_160020.jpg

20240519_160417.jpg

I came across some more rest areas, after passing through several paths, many with decorative railings and I think also for safety.

20240519_160800.jpg

20240519_160545.jpg

And this route and part of the map ends with an incredible view that I found among several plants, towards the mountains of the city, called the Montes de Malaga which is a nature reserve.

Thank you very much to all of you for joining me, I send you a big greeting and see you next time.

Nice ride, I'm exhausted πŸ˜…. I like this kind of visits, it really is a huge and amazing place for its many varieties of plants. But on this occasion what caught my attention the most was The San Telmo aqueduct along with the data you have given about it.

Here raining πŸ˜„ β˜”.
Best regards.

I loved that part of the story in the middle of nature! The walk among the collections of palm trees too... I must go to a place that is close to the avenue of palm trees and there are lampposts!

It hasn't rained here for a long time.... months, I think in months 2 days. Thank you!

Oh god.. love the photos of the arches lost in the middle of the undergrowth. It's like a kind of portal to a magical place. I don't know how to explain what I feel when I see them. I love them!!!!!

Ay dios.. ame las fotos de los arcos perdidos en medio de la maleza. Es como una especie de portal a un lugar mΓ‘gico nose como explicar lo que siento al verlas. Me encantan!!!!!

What a great job they have done in sectorizing the botanical garden, an orderly way of visiting it, given that it is very large, and you have to visit it several times to get to know it in depth
How beautiful and well cared for the plants look.
Beautiful photographs, I really appreciate dear friend @avdesing that you have shared this experience of visiting it
Have a lovely day

The truth is that this is very good so that I can go through one sector per day, otherwise I might get lost somewhere. Thank you very much @jlufer πŸ˜ƒ

A nice place to pull the cable to the ground... πŸ˜… it is very necessary to connect with nature. There are beautiful places like that here, my friend, but I feel so insecure. The other day when I went to the place of the herons and asked about the bridge they told me that the place I have to cross is dangerous, that there are unscrupulous people there, troublemakers and that they spend all their time on drugs and committing all kinds of misdeeds.
So I thought I need someone to accompany me... and that's how it is with a lot of things here, which makes me feel so helpless.

Where I lived before there was nothing at all, two parks and very poorly maintained. Now I enjoy everything I can, I love nature, but if it's true about the security there, be careful!

What a beautiful paradise, I imagined myself walking among all that green and colorful flowers, listening to the birds singing, crossing that bridge and suddenly something that moves the leaves of the bushes, I look out to see what cute little animal I could cross, an owl-saur appears ... sorry, I lost my way πŸ˜‚

This area of Spain has a very interesting landscape and environment, which looks somewhat dry with a few lush areas.

It's my favourite place so far in this place and you have no idea how humid it is! And it doesn't rain! Thank you so much!

It is incredibly beautiful this botanical garden, the species all must be little treasures of time, some or many protected by danger of extinction.

Every city should have laws to build such a garden, and in many ways contribute to safeguarding the planet and our trees that are life itself.
I imagine you left there with your lungs full of the purest oxygen you can breathe, plus the fragrance of so much chlorophyll.

I love conifers and palm trees, they tend to be beautiful and elegant.

It's a place I love to go to, it renews me totally and yes, it's true, every big city should have a space like this, because it's healthy for the planet and for us too. Thank you so much!πŸ’—
