A deep walk, looking at looks and expressions of art.

Have you ever gone for a walk and in the meantime you observe people's faces and looks?

20240903_181137.jpg

It often happens to me that while taking a walk I meet a lot of people, especially when the walks are in the city and not out in nature.

If I pay attention to those faces and looks, many of them say a lot of things. There are happy faces, worried faces, faces that speak with joy and others that are lonely and sad.

And sometimes it happens that I empathise and I can feel something like a breeze from someone who has passed by me. In that way the walks are something different, I am one with all the people.

In the history of art many people have been portrayed, some are known and recognised and other people are unknown who they are, only the painter who has portrayed them.

Many artists have done portraits and when someone is painted the expressions on their faces are inescapable. The painter may add something of his or her own feeling, but the one who paints photographically and realistically usually captures that essence.

There are places in the city where there are constantly changing art exhibitions and one such place is the city's Chamber of Commerce, where there is always something interesting to see.

On this walk I happened to pass by and the doors were open after the August recess. I am curious and like to investigate so I went in to see what was new this time.

I found an art exhibition about portraits, expressions, looks, or at least that's what I saw.

20240903_181247.jpg

This time it was about paintings and portraits from the 19th and early 20th century, of well-known people from the city.

But what I always want to look at is the good painting, the way it is done, regardless of whether the person was known or not. I want to admire the depth of the gaze, the features of the faces, the folds of the drapery that make up the clothing. All those details that I once learned to do.

I love realistic painting, the kind that looks like a photograph or that things come out of the painting and come to life, and I also like to paint like that.

In this art exhibition you can see different personalities, perhaps there are happy faces, others indifferent, others pensive, and you can see it in their eyes, in their skin, in the small details.

Some are looking to the side, others to the front and others are looking as if to say... you are looking....

It was a time in history when these paintings were done a lot, as if it was fashionable or as if people were taking a selfie through them.

I think this painting of a Japanese woman in oil is my favourite, not only because of the colours of the painting, but also because of the clothes that differ from the others and the expression on her face.

When you go for a walk you always see people and also at art exhibitions like this one.

The paintings were spread over two rooms, and in the second room the paintings were from the 20th century. You can see the difference both in the strokes and in the style of painting. I think there is less detail, less realism, but it is still art.

Perhaps in this part of the exhibition I could see more expressions in the poses of the people than in their faces, if you look closely this girl looks angry and the woman impatient as if waiting for something.

It was a great walk inside the place which of course continued outside admiring the lighthouse in the distance.

The best of all is to finish a nice walk with a nice latte in a nice place.

Thank you all very much for joining me this Wednesday. I send you a big hello and see you next time.

First of all, very nice pictures. And now yes, I really liked this walk through the “Chamber of Commerce” of Malaga. The portrait of a Japanese woman is also the one I like the most. I enjoyed in general all the portraits, many of them show us the psychology of the portrayed in an excellent way.

To finish here, I also liked very much the work of Eugenio Chicano, very close to pop-art.

Thank you very much for this tour @avdesing.

well the truth is that I never stare at people's faces while walking, maybe I just look at the places and of course the paintings of faces and looks are great, I hope you enjoy your coffee.
