Handmade denim pencil case |Contest

.- Step 1

I took a piece of fabric from the pant leg and cut, imagining the shape of a pencil case with a lid.

.- Paso 1

Tomé un pedazo de tela de la pierna del pantalón y corté, imaginando la forma de una cartuchera con tapa.

.- Step 2

To join the fabrics, I sewed the edges, making the embroidery stitch known as scallop which is ideal for decorating edges and in this case to sew two pieces of fabric, I used a skein of neon orange, vibrant to give color to my pencil case. This stitch consists of inserting the needle through one side, taking it out and reinserting it as close to the first stitch and inserting the needle through the loop that remains before closing the stitch. In this way, successively along the entire edge we want to join and decorate.

.- Paso 2

Para unir las telas, cosí los bordes, haciendo la puntada de bordado conocida como festón que es ideal para adornar bordes y en este caso para coser dos pedazos de tela, usé una madeja de color naranja neón, vibrante para darle colorido a mi cartuchera. Esta puntada consiste en introducir la aguja por un costado, la sacamos y la volvemos a introducir lo más cerca del primer punto y metemos la aguja por la lazada que queda antes de cerrar el punto. Así, sucesivamente por todo el borde al que queremos unir y decorar.

.- Step 3.

With all the border joined by the scalloped stitch, I thought about how I would decorate it. So, I came up with the idea of embroidering the phrase back to school in English, with different colors, all bright to give a cheerful touch to the pencil case.

.- Paso 3

Con todo el borde unido por el punto festón, pensé en cómo la decoraría. Así, se me ocurrió bordar la frase regreso a clase en inglés, con diferentes colores, todos llamativos para darle un toque alegre a la cartuchera.

.- Step 4.

The pencil case was almost ready, but to finish it I put a button that will keep everything in it well stored.

I sewed the buttonhole with festoon stitch, also, using blue skein and that's how it was finished.

.- Paso 4

Ya la cartuchera estaba casi lista, pero para terminarla le puse un botón que mantendrá bien guardado todo lo que lleve en ella.

Cosí el ojal con punto festón, también, usando madeja azul y así quedó terminada.

Honestly, I loved the result.

This contest allowed me to boost my creativity and I am very grateful for that. It is the first step to continue trying to sew this type of work until I can buy a sewing machine because, deep down, I have always wanted to learn this manual art. It seems to me that seamstresses do magic with a piece of fabric.

I am very happy because the contests are back and because I was able to share my participation.

Honestamente, me encantó el resultado.

Este concurso me permitió potenciar mi creatividad y esto lo agradezco mucho. Es el primer paso para seguir intentando coser este tipo de labores hasta que pueda comprar una máquina de coser porque, en el fondo, siempre he querido aprender este arte manual. Me parece que las costureras hacen magia con un pedazo de tela.

Estoy muy contenta porque regresaron los concursos y porque pude compartir mi participación.
