Relocation Is A Yes!

The cost of living In my country at the moment is becoming unbearable.
The economy of my country Nigeria is experiencing inflation at the moment due to some of the government policies put in place when the new president came into power. The prices of goods and services is skyrocketing and the prices of goods are going beyond two hundred and fifty percent. An average Nigerian cannot enjoy what they want anymore. They can only manage what is available.

An average salary earner in Nigeria receives one hundred to one hundred and fifty thousand naira which can not take care of his feeding and logistics let alone shelter and clothing.

Compared to other countries, After all necessary bills have been taken care of, one would still be able to save a reasonable percentage of his salary. Let's take for instance, a teacher in Canada earns about $25 CAD per hour which is about $200 CAD per day working for eight hours. But here in Nigeria, a teacher earns less than a $1 CAD per hour and less than $5 CAD in a day. From the analysis above, one can deduce that the cost of living in Nigeria is very high and the earnings are too low compared to other countries.

Though, the standard of living in other countries like Canada is a bit high like apartment, water bills, food, gas, and the likes are more expensive than it is here, but for the fact that you make a lot of money, one can still make tangible savings and live a decent and stress free life in Canada than here in Nigeria.

My services as a teacher, can fetch me a lot of money in other developed countries than here in Africa. Where teachers are one of the low income earners. Just like in the analysis I gave above, the difference in the earnings of a teacher here and over there is far different. A dish washer over there can pay the salary of a teacher over here.

Most teachers here augment living through loans. They go into debt each month and pay when the salary comes and go back into debt again and again because the salary is finished before the 5th of the next month.

If I had the chance, I would relocate over to Canada or the United Kingdom. Infact, I am currently doing all I can to relocate with my family. It is a bad thing to work like an elephant and eat like an ant. I work really hard same with my husband but transportation and the cost of living does not make our hard work show. I have aged parents to take care of. I want a better life for my family and I don't think that is too much to ask for.

Once I get any legitimate opportunity to go, I will gladly accept so that I can live my dreams.

The moment I saw your title I was like, Hmm this is one of the "Japa gang" 😂

There is two things I will never combine as a Nigerian which is being a Nigerian and a teacher. not that I detest the profession but the way teachers are underpaid makes me feel sick. The most funny aspect is that the incentives available to encourage teachers are not being considered in our country especially in most private institutions.

Japa gang😂 I'm a proud member of the association 🤣
The truth is that it's becoming more difficult everyday.
The country is making me regret my decision to be a teacher.😂
Thanks for stopping by.

Well I would be lying if I said relocating doesn't cross my mind at least twice a day.

Surviving in this country has become a war.

Indeed, it is difficult to live in Nigeria at the moment and every individual is looking for an opportunity to leave the country.

I feel your pain and pray that it gets better soon
