It's My Passion

I believe it's not the content of the gift but the intention behind it.
I have always been a person with a soft spot for people in need. I have the urge to help the less privileged in the society but I usually think I don't have enough to go round.
It became clear to me that I don't need all to show kindness, during my university days when a group I belong to decided to visit a remote village in the state, to evangelize and help with their basic needs.

We were students but we got sponsorship from both individuals and corporate bodies.
The plan was to provide health care, drugs, relief materials, beverages and the likes.

We had medical doctors, pharmacist, opticians, and others on our team.
All arrangements have been made including vehicles for the journey.
We would be in the village for three days, so as to familiarize ourselves with the villagers.

When we got to the village, I was speechless. I couldn't imagine there are people living in such state. To start with, the road was like a dead end, no pipe borne water, no electricity. But the people were very accommodating and friendly, they were very pleased to see us. I was on the team for children. We helped to first barb the children's hair because their hair were overgrown. We taught them a lot of things

Both adults and kids were treated for illnesses such as malaria, flu, diarrhea and the likes after being tested. They were also dewormed.
My experience there gave me another reason to do better.

Since then, I've always volunteer for outreaches most especially for children. One of my minimalist deeds, to show kindness and connection in a materialistic world is by volunteering to visit less privileged communities. Just to care for children and support in my little way.

I'm currently volunteering for ASK THE PEDIATRICIAN FOUNDATION A foundation for children health. There are mostly doctors there.

The goal is to help children to get basic healthcare and sensitize them on ways to prevent these common illnesses that takes the life of children

We visited a community and there was just one nursery and primary school in the whole of the community. The children walk miles to get to their secondary school, in this age and time. I felt really bad.

We did what we do best by teaching them various ways to prevent diseases, encouraging them on personal hygiene, sanitation and the importance of Education.
At the end of our meetings, we give refreshments to our participants and we donate first aid kit to them.

No matter how stressful these trips are, I'm always happy because it's my way of showing kindness and it gives me so much joy.

Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate you.
Yours truly @aunty-tosin 💕💕

It became clear to me that I don't need all to show kindness,

This is so true, kindness doesn't really have to be difficult, your words and smile alone is more than enough

You did well in giving the children knowledge on health matters, I am sure they will appreciate it and put it to practice.

These are some lovely deeds that you do, and I understand you feeling like you do not have enough to give. However, I would suggest that you alleviate that by selecting a special person to help, who you know will receive your donation/gift etc.

Showing kindness shouldn't be till when we have all the money in the world. Starting somewhere means a lot.

You and your team did well in the outreach and I know the children will be inspired by it. Kudos to you and your team lady👍
