On Monetizing your Hobbies and Passion
Monetization of our hobbies and passions for financial reward allows us to enjoy the beauty of earning an income while doing what we love. It is often said that one of the easiest ways to earn a living is by making a career out of the things you love. There is an incredible feeling of fulfillment that comes with working a job or running a business you enjoy doing. The concept of loving your job is a luxury that many don't get to experience in their lifetime.
Benefits of Monetizing your Hobby
There are several benefits to monetizing your hobbies as so many people have gone ahead to become great artists and business moguls simply by turning their passions into sustainable sources of income. The balance that comes with deriving a sense of joy and relaxation whilst getting the bag is nothing short of fulfilling. There is a long list of people who do not have the energy of ease and happiness when it comes to their job, they do it because they have to, and that's okay; you and I probably fit right on this list.
This is not to say that not doing jobs or businesses that align with our passions results in an unhappy or toxic workflow as that is not always the case. My point is there are some added advantages to making money off the activities we enjoy doing for pleasure, especially in terms of motivation and commitment. The enthusiasm towards earning a living from doing something you have always been passionate about is usually telling.
We are more likely to excel at things that come naturally to us. Working in fields you have passion for makes it easier to execute your tasks at your job, and grow to push your businesses to greater levels of success because the details of execution and delivery border on the details you struggle with. You realize you do not have to or something that you have to put too much effort into learning or struggling to understand the ropes.
Education and Skill Improvement
Education is a fundamental element that can never go out of style. There is usually a glaring difference between someone who went through an appropriate system of education to acquire their skills whether or not they are passionate about them from someone who is building with their natural talents and hobbies. Our world is fast-paced, to stay relevant you have to offer more than average.
It is not enough to be naturally good at an activity for you to turn it into a source of revenue. The quest to turn a hobby into a career would require some additional sets of skills that would provide a professional arc to your venture. For instance, a person who enjoys cooking and wishes to make a career out of it; might have to take courses on content creation, social management, customer relations, product packaging, etc.
Should We Always Aim to Monetize our Hobbies?
Hobbies are activities we enjoy for the sake of relaxation, stimulation, and overall fulfillment, for that we should be able to enjoy things solely for the sake of enjoyment. Not everything has to be about money, not every hobby should be commercialized. Another angle to this is it is not always realistic to try and make a living out of our hobbies. Just because you enjoy doing something and believe yourself to be good at it does not make it the right financial path for you.
For instance, I know someone who is hell-bent on making a career out of his passion for music. He sure loves to rap and sing to the heavens. The only issue here is everyone around him doesn't think he's on the right path. Of course, people's opinions don't always matter, but not when you're choosing a path that thrives on validation and acceptance from others. My subtle point is he's not very good at the music thingy but he is adamant and insists on making it his only career. Well, to each their own.
Conclusion
Monetizing our hobbies has a high probability of sucking the fun out of it. The thing that used to give you pleasure could become a burden and too demanding for you to even enjoy it. If you can afford to turn your passions into revenue, and you have the resources and the right positioning then sure, give it your all. It is also okay to just enjoy the things you enjoy without trying to change them for monetary purposes.

I would say doing what you are passionate about is the best thing. Because you never loose your interest in that profession. In some profession you might have to struggle and get less paid but you never loose hope.
This is my opinion and I truly respect your as well.
