DON’T LET DESPERATION GET THE BEST OF YOU.

We have all felt desperate over something at some point in our lives, it is normal to feel desperate but it is not okay to give in or succumb to the force that pulls you to give in to despair.
Hopelessness, a state of mind where options and opportunities are out of sight, often results in desperation. You want something very badly you are willing to throw all caution to the wind and just do whatever it takes to get you what you want.

Majority of the worlds population are operating under extreme pressure. The hustle and the hassle of me king ends meet, of acquiring wealth, becoming comfortable and enjoying life to the fullest, has made a lot of people too desperate to make it, too desperate to succeed; so they throw themselves into their work, into whatever sounds profiting, a lucrative idea comes by and they are immediately ready to cash out from it.

Desperation clouds your judgment, making critical thinking difficult. A desperate person can do anything to bring them closer to their destination. They are willing to make personal sacrifices and use all resources at their disposal to achieve their goal. When a person is desperate, they make rash decisions. For them, the end would justify the means.
There is little consideration for risks, for the outcome of these actions and their consequences.

Desperation is what makes a lot of people victims to bad investment choices. Because it blinds you to reason, you fail to see how your action could end badly. Desperation and greed often work hand in hand to hurt people by their own hands. By wanting to take advantage of a too good to be true situation, it often ends in regret.

I remember when ponzi schemes were a thing in my country, it was one chaotic shit show we witnessed. Someone tells you to bring 10k Naira to take away 100k. And some persons would immediately jump at it. All you have to do is convince two people to drop their common sense and reasoning and join you on your quest to quick and easy money. They do this to create a chain of income flow because the money has to come from somewhere. They pay some people to make it look legit and pacify their conscience before disappearing with the rest.
Man! That’s a whole lotta thiefry going on and the maths just wasn’t mathing.

People invested millions in these things, savings were withdrawn, projects halted. Some people cashed out, took away so much more money that they invested, and it is normally first come first serve... after a few days or weeks depending on traffic, the website crashes and everyone lights a candle for their fallen monies. It got people in so much trouble, suspension from school for failing to pay their school fees, debts, debts and more, eviction notices, hunger strike amongst students in my campus. Depression. It wasn’t great on the economy and state of living generally.

Eventually everyone moved on. After some time another one shows up with same pattern, and it’s rinse and repeat. Almost as if people don’t learn. The gulliblitly of humans is a sure banker, you can always count on it.

I read something a quote by Mark Twain some days ago on Edicted’s post and it says:

It is easier to fool people than convince them they have been fooled.

And that ate!
Lots of systems and institutions have been built on people’s reluctance to see the truth that’s right in front of them, reluctance to think. It is easier to be gullible and fall victim later, so they can feel sorry for themselves and blame other people for their problems, than to apply common reasoning and hold themselves accountable.

When you feel desperate, take a moment and remind yourself that you are about to do something for the wrong reason.
But, if you insist, then I hope you take the lesson in the outcome and try to remember it, to prevent a reoccurrence of the problem.

I agree it is desperation but it is also greed. It also reminds me of people who still get give their accounts away (they say they got hacked)by clicking on the promise of something that is too good to be true Sugar
