How Do You Explain to Your Friends That You Work in Crypto?

Crypto has become mainly the source of income for the youths in this modern age simply by just investing in any digital coin of your choice, that is, buying and selling of cryptocurrencies and with the knowledge of when to buy and sell you get to make a lot of money from it. However, the only challenge faced is how to tell someone you work by investing in crypto and you just have to sit at home doing it.

Despite the fact that is known all over the world, some people still haven’t accepted it as a means of making proper income especially our family members because they believe working in a cooperate office, working 9 – 5 jobs earns you more and makes you look responsible to the society and sitting at home makes you look irresponsible and not serious with life.

Sometimes whenever I’m hit with the question, what do you do? I just pause for a while and think of how to explain to them what is web3, the blockchain, cryptocurrency and anything decentralization because they wouldn’t still understand so instead I just come up with a simple answer like I’m a content writer and I earn my money through writing contents. Though they still become sceptical as to how one can make money just by writing content, then I hit them with I’m also a crypto investor (Bitcoin) with little or no explanation because that’s the only coin most people are familiar with especially elders.

Sometimes, the only way I get to explain how I earn through content writing is when my mates or people who also have basic knowledge about cryptocurrency and how it works asks because they will need no long explanation of the blockchain or invest what you can lose willingly kind of phase, even though you still have to remind them in case they get cocky or too sure of themselves. Bottom line is, that you still need a little bit of lecture to teach them about what they need to know about a particular coin or platform you are bringing them into.

In Nigeria, telling someone you make a living just by investing in crypto doesn’t seem bad again because it's 2022 and everybody has seen the impact of it on the life of the youths and how it has made them more organized instead of their normal fraudulent activities. Also, there aren’t many jobs available in the country so telling someone you earn by investing in crypto even makes you look rich because they now believe investing in crypto yields a lot of income.

The only you get in trouble for saying you earn in crypto is when a family member has knowledge of it and is aware of the current bear market then the crypto critic side of him comes out and gives you a lecture why you should have worked in an office to earn a salary.
