A Nearly Costly Mistake But Thanks To Binance Customer Care

Sometimes the person you think you trust can end up being the person that would go the extra mile to hurt you and being a good Samaritan is good but sometimes not always good because it might end up biting you back and that’s what almost got me but thanks to the quick response from Binance team my good didn’t end up being costing me lifetime regret.

Ever since the bear market started I hardly check my portfolio to avoid heartbreak or watch my coin and profit lose value, so I just kept my Binance account on power-saving mode till I hear a positive result in the crypto market. Two days ago “a friend who I think I trusted” came to me and said his Binance app is giving him an issue, and he needed to buy the dip before it’s too late so he won’t miss out like he did the first time Bitcoin went to $17k.

I was sceptical at first but due to the fact that has known him for a long I allowed transfer the cash to my account and I performed the purchase of the coins. He went further in saying he wanted to check on the market to see how the coins are doing maybe he will purchase another so I will transfer them to him once his app starts functioning again, well everything went smoothly, nothing out of the ordinary and as usual closed the app and didn’t check for any wrongs.

Fast-forward, two days later which is today, I tried to access my Binance account I noticed that I couldn’t, keep saying invalid email or password, tried forgetting the password kept saying invalid email. Then it dawned on me that this guy literally changed my email and password and turned off the SMS alert. My heart was already racing fast, tried changing the password and disabling the account but it kept saying service busy, tried calling his line but it wasn’t connecting, now I’m sweating and panicking and instantly I got a thought “customer service”.

Immediately I contacted them but I didn’t know how to tell them that I was the one that willingly gave him my phone instead I said my phone got stolen and my account was compromised. They asked for details and checked the account and confirmed the credentials were changed and to get it back I had to snap a picture holding a valid ID card and also make a video with the ID card and state the problem with my account and the email I want to change to.

After talking with them for some time and trying the resolve the issue, finally, they changed the email back to mine but this time a different email I operate, I was so happy, immediately changed the password and luckily he hasn’t touched my coins maybe because I probably told him I don’t open my Binance app because of the dip and he was waiting for the right time well I’m glad the right time didn’t come for him and I got my account back in one piece. So the moral lesson is don’t trust anyone with your phone, especially your crypto exchange app.

That was indeed a close call, I am certain you would avoid such exchange in the future. I know I have learnt a memorable lesson from your story.
