Mega Kangaskhan Raid Day recap

Ahoy, in my previous blog post about the A Mega Moment event I mentioned that today there would be a Mega Kangaskhan Raid day event. I wasn't planning on doing a lot of the Raids, but was definitely going to use the 5 free Raid Passes at a minimum. Which turned out to be the 2 free Raid Passes from the day + 3 more. I got my first Raid Pass of the day before the Raid Day started, and then in total got 4 more during the Raid Day to bring it to 5.

I met up with some friends early in the afternoon to hit up a few of the Raids in the city center. After doing 5 Raids in the city center, I unfortunately had 0 Shiny Kangaskhan even with the increased chance for Shiny. Another friend also had no Shinies. Luckily a few other friends did manage to get some Shiny Kangaskhan, and even one of them even got 2! So they were definitely there, I just wasn't lucky enough to get one 😅

Having no luck continued when I decided to use some coins to get 3 Remote Raid Passes and use them to join some Raids that I received invites for. In total I did 8 Raids, 5 in the city center and then 3 remotes with invites received from other countries. Two of those remote ones were weather boosted. Here are the Kangaskhan I caught today from the Mega Raids, and the stats for the 1448 and 1774 CP ones.

No improvement to my best Kangaskhan unfortunately, but that would've only been possible anyway if it had been a 100% IV. As last year during the GO Tour: Kanto event, I did some Kangaskhan Raids and managed to get a 98% IV from one of those. Which I still have as it's my best one so far. Here you can see it.

From doing those 8 Mega Raids today I got just over 600 Kangaskhan Mega Energy. So far I haven't Mega Evolved it yet, usually I prefer to wait until I have a perfect 100% IV of a Pokémon before I'd wanna use the Mega Energy to Mega Evolve it. However, Kangaskhan is extremely difficult to obtain as it's a regional Pokémon that I can't find here. I can only get it from Raids with events like these and GO Tour: Kanto, and from 7 km Eggs during special events once in a while. So it might be better to just Mega Evolve it at least once, and at least I could also earn Mega Energy from walking with one then.

I will also trade these 8 that I caught today, but will probably see with friends if they keep some as well to trade them during an event where there's an increased chance to get Lucky Pokémon from trading. During an event like that we'd have a better chance at getting a Lucky and thus a better chance at good IVs.
