Hello everyone and Hive!

In 2022, what is the happiest thing for you? For me, this year is like a roller coaster, there are sweet things and also bitter things. This time, I will tell you a lot about things that make me happy, is about being able to visit the country of white elephants, Thailand. Last November, I just visited Bangkok (read: Krung Thep Maha Nakhon). This trip was not planned perfectly, because I happened to get a cheap plane ticket, with great recklessness, I finally planned a budget vacation with a minimal budget.

For a backpacker who is constrained by a mediocre budget, of course he prefers something that is cheap to visit. Usually, backpackers will choose a place that is a landmark of the city/country, for example, like in Indonesia, which has many mosques, visiting a mosque should not be missed. Like Thailand, which is famous for its many temples.

That day, I woke up late because I stayed up all night visiting the night market in Bangkok, I woke up at 11.00 am and immediately looked for breakfast. The plan, today I will visit one of the famous temples in the city of Bangkok, Wat Pho. This is one of the temples that has a unique characteristis, this temple is very famous for sleeping Buddha.

I chose to visit Wat Pho because this is one of the temples that is close to Khaosan Road, where the hotel I rented is located. Only walking 25 minutes, I can immediately see how Wat Pho looks like, which I usually only see on the internet and posts by my friends on social media. Arriving at Wat Pho, I have to pay an entrance ticket of 200 baht for foreign tourists, paid in cash.

Wat Pho is next to the Grand Palace, actually there are several other temples that are also close to the Grand Palace, such as Wat Arun, but if you want to go to Wat Arun, you have to cross the river first.

After paying for the ticket, I entered and saw how sturdy this temple was. At the entrance, I saw that there were 2 big statues guarding the entrance to this temple. I just walked straight to the biggest building in Wat Pho, where the sleeping Buddha is. Before entering the room, you are required to take off the hat and shoes that you are wearing, then put them in a green bag at the entrance to the building. This is meant so that we can take care of our belongings and also keep the temple clean.

I took a photo in front of the sleeping Buddha, the statue is very big and bright, like it reflects light, because it is made of gold. Sleeping Buddha is kept very clean, we are not even allowed to touch it. There are several pillars surrounding the sleeping Buddha, so there are only a few spots where you can take close-up photos of the sleeping Buddha.

On the leg of the sleeping buddha, there is a unique and neatly written carving, but unfortunately I don't understand what the writing means because it is written in Thai without any English at all. There are many images engraved, looking like shrines carved into the legs of the sleeping Buddha. Besides that, there are several sections in front of the sleeping Buddha devoted to prayer, along with several other Buddha statues.

Wat Pho is a temple that has a very large area, not only the sleeping Buddha, there are several other small buildings that can be visited. One of them is the Nuad Thai Museum. So, this building is a museum that introduces Nuad Thai Massage which is a culture. Nuad Thai Massage is an important part of this country, so it needs to be introduced to the world. Here, I know some important information about the famous Thai massage, there is even some information about the right point to do Thai massage.

I walked around and saw a lot of interesting things in Wat Pho, like this building for example, very, very interesting. I don't know what this building was used for, maybe it's a place to pray, but I didn't see anyone going into it. These are the pillars that adorn the vast courtyard of Wat Pho. There are many trees and the atmosphere in this temple makes the ambiance in this temple very comfortable, cool, not noisy and calm. Indeed, places of worship always make people calmer, right?

Lots of foreign tourists come, even willing to bask in the hot sun. Luckily there are plenty of chairs provided to rest. Oh yes, if we enter the temple, we will be given 1 bottle of drinking water, including 200 bath.

In my opinion, Wat Pho is very interesting, maybe also because this temple is very friendly to foreign tourists. We get a lot of experience and information at this temple, one of which is knowledge about Nuad Thai Massage which has been recognized by Unesco in December 2019, seeing the sleeping Buddha up close, and seeing many Thai people praying at this temple. If you come to Wat Pho, don't miss the exciting experience of riding a Tuk-tuk at the exit, then stop by the floating market and feel the sensation!

See you the next time hive friends!

@aswita Hello, the temple is very impressive, inside and out, how those indescribable clouds match the facades of the temple and your spectacular photos. Congratulations, I think one is transported!

The temple has an interesting characteristic. To be honest, this is my first experience going to a place of worship other than my faith. I was amazed by the beauty of this temple.
