Pineapple Jam
Usually, what comes to mind during the month of Ramadan is preparation for Eid al-Fitr. This will really ring in my head during the month of Ramadan, even though Eid is not a special thing when compared to the month of Ramadan, fasting for 30 days and doing more and better worship activities.
I decided to focus on doing better worship in this month of Ramadan, so I only think about my main goal, which is to get ridho and blessings during Ramadan and reduce worldly activities. Reading the Koran, praying and doing good is my top priority right now.
However, during menstruation, it is strictly forbidden for women to fast and pray, so on this occasion I made many things that I might not have done while I was fasting. For example, like making cakes to prepare for Eid and doing strenuous activities, because making cakes will be very tiring, especially during Eid. So, throughout this week, I made some cookies as a snack for guests when Eid arrives.
As you know, I really like making cookies, it's been 4 years, I've been selling various delicious cookies to some of my friends who order from me. One of the best-selling cookies and liked by my customers is Nastar. Well, this type of cookie is one of the Dutch heritage from long ago. This colonization provided a history in the culinary field, such as Nastar and Kastangel. The two types of cookies are types of cookies that are loved by the people of Indonesia, not only for Eid, they are even presented at Christmas and Chinese New Year celebrations.
Especially this time, I want to share with you how to make good, tasty and hygienic pineapple jam. In making pineapple jam, pineapple jam is an important part that is no less interesting, because pineapple jam is one of the keys to making nastar cookies very tasty and different from other nastar. This recipe is also one of the legacies from my mother, because my mother really likes to make nastar for Eid celebrations and as a precious moment for me and my mother first.
Ingredients;
There are several important ingredients and tips to make pineapple jam very tasty and special. The taste of the pineapple that you get must be sweet, watery and slightly sour. This is so that pineapple jam is easy to process and also does not have a strong sweet taste, because pineapple jam will be added with sugar, so choose a good pineapple.
- 3 pineapples (peel the skin, but the eyes on the pineapple should not be removed because it will make the nastar more fragrant)
- 250 gr of sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks measuring 5 cm
How to make pineapple jam;
- After the pineapple skin is peeled, cut the pineapple into pieces. Then separate it into 2 parts, 1 part in a blender to make it smooth, one part to be grated to get the texture of pineapple.
- Put the pineapple juice into the wok pan, then cook over medium heat until the water in the pineapple juice is reduced. Add the cinnamons.
- Once the pineapple juice has only a little water, add the sugar and stir periodically. If it has been given sugar, then reduce the stove heat, use low heat and cook slowly. Cooking pineapple jam must have great patience, so that pineapple jam doesn't turn caramel and have a bitter taste.
- If it becomes brown and the water in the pineapple dries up, turn off the stove and remove the pineapple jam.
- Pineapple jam is ready to be processed into nastar filling or for bread filling. Good luck!
See you the next time hive friends!
