Make A Cat Tongue, Cookies That Make You Happy.

Hello everyone,
Utilizing leftover ingredients in making food is a troublesome thing, but it must be done. Why is that? throwing food away is the same as wasting your money for nothing.

As I recall, these egg whites make great cookies, like meringues or something. However, my mother-in-law says that egg whites are great for making cat tongue cookies. You must be very curious why it is named like that, same, I am also curious. My mother said that it actually doesn't have a name like that, but because of the similar shape and texture, that's why it's called cat's tongue. The surface is very rough like you're licked by a cat. The shape is very thin, long and wide like a cat's tongue. So, these cookies are called cat tongues.

Recently, cat's tongue cookies have been modified to be more attractive, many make cat's tongue cookies topped with chocolate, jam and peanut butter, which will add an ordinary taste to be more extraordinary. Although I like the original cat's tongue, because it's already sweet and crunchy. Melted in the tongue and delicious served with a cup of tea without sugar, the taste can not be expressed with anything.

I had some leftover chocolate spread to use as a spread for breakfast, so I set out to make cat's tongue cookies with chocolate that everyone would love. In this world, who doesn't like chocolate? So, even though these cookies are from leftovers, I'll pack them as best I can.


Cat Tongue Cookies
The Recipe


The process of making cat tongue cookies is very easy, some ingredients are also simple. The ingredients needed are;

  • 150 gr egg whites (from 4 medium sized eggs)
  • 100 gr white sugar that has been refined
  • 75 gr purposes flour
  • 250 gr margarine or butter
  • 100 gr of chocolate spread
  • Pinch of salt

After preparing some ingredients, here's the step by step in making cat tongue cookies;

  • I will beat the remaining egg whites at high speed using a mixer, so the egg whites can expand 4 times. This will make the cat's tongue cookies even tastier.

  • After that, transfer all the beaten egg whites into a new container. Now, proceed to beat the butter/margarine with the refined sugar. Whisk until the color of the butter changes, if you use unsalted butter, add a little salt to make the cookies more savory and the sweet taste will appear more delicious.

  • When the butter has expanded, slowly put the egg whites into the mixer bowl and beat with a spatula dont forget to add all purpose flour. Just stir in 1 motion slowly until the mixture is well blended and very good. In making cat tongue cookies, patience is the most important key so that they expand and have a crunchy texture when bitten.

  • Put the dough into a triangular plastic, or use a plastic that allows it to move the dough into the tray. You can preheat the oven temporarily before the tray goes in, just 150 to 180 degrees Celsius, for 30 minutes. Arrange nicely on a flat tray, if you have a special tray it would be great to use it.

  • Bake the cat's tongue cookie dough for 30-45 minutes, the dough will expand very well as long as the oven temperature is maintained.

  • You can enjoy the original cat's tongue cookies, but I added a little chocolate spread and covered it like a sandwich. Then put the cookies in the jar when they are completely cold so that they last longer.

So much time I didn't heard about cat tongues was one of my fav cookies when I was a child my grandmother always make or buy them for me, so much good memories thanks 👍
