Japanese Style Crème Brulee Plant Based Snack

There was something new in my kitchen, I surfed the internet and found a snack menu that made me very curious about the taste. You've heard this before, food that I think is quite unique and has a delicious taste too. This recipe is actually not an original recipe, but a recipe that I modify because there were many ingredients that I didn't have.

Have you ever heard of this famous Japanese food, sweet potato crème brulee. A snack that is said to have been first made by the Japanese and eventually spread. It seems, there are several people who went traveling to Japan and discovered this street food. The basic ingredient is sweet potato, however, it is given crème which really has a very delicious taste.


The Recipe - Sweet Potato Creme Brulee


Even though I've never seen it before, I am sure, it's so delicious. However, this time I modified several products I had at home. Today it's been raining all day, my husband and I need food that can warm our bodies. It needs a little sweetness and it turns out that in my refrigerator there are 2 pieces of sweet potato that have lasted for 1 week. It still tastes very good, the shape is still very good. You can see that the sweet potato looks like it has a very beautiful shape, perfect for crème brulee it seems.

I bake it in the oven, it took quite a long time. I baked it for 1 hour at 200 degrees Celsius. This is a sweet potato from Cilembu, very famous for its taste. This Cilembu sweet potato has a caramel taste which is really very sweet, but not sweet like sugar. Indeed, Cilembu sweet potatoes have the highest level of all existing sweet potatoes.

After waiting for the sweet potatoes in the oven for 1 hour to cook and give off a natural caramel, I made fla. I don't use any crème from dairy products, but from the flan that is in my kitchen cupboard. There is 1 packet of vanilla flan which is my favorite product for making any topping, usually for making chocolate pudding.

I mixed 1 pack of vanilla flan with 200ml hot water, it has to be hot or just boiling, then the flan will dissolve easily without lumps. So, the ingredients don't contain cow's milk, it looks like it's only made from vegetable creamer.

After the flan was dissolved, I waited for the cilembu sweet potato to warm up a bit, if it was too hot it would hurt the skin on my hands. Then, split the sweet potato in the middle and using a fork, I crushed the filling from the sweet potato to easily scoop it out with a spoon.

Now, after this, little by little, gradually, add the vanilla flavor over the prepared sweet potatoes. This is what will make sweet potatoes very delicious, but, it's not finished here. You have to sprinkle a little sugar on top and torch it with fire so that there is a little brulee on top. A little black would be better, the aroma would be very appetizing.

Eating together with my husband, enjoying every bite and the sweet taste that is really felt in the throat. Of course, this is a snack that will be very delicious to eat while still warm, so, this will make your afternoon better, of course with a cup of tea or coffee.
