Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) - Thailand
Hello everyone, Architecture Design Community,
Warm greetings to all of us, I hope that at the beginning of this year you will always be blessed with health and happiness wherever you are.
The year 2022 has passed, now 2023 is underway even though it is still 2/365 to the next year, all the resolutions we have made this year have come true and have become a blessing. At the beginning of this year, I prayed a lot of prayers to God, apart from trying and praying, I always try not to have expectations in whatever I do, because what succeeds and fails is always for the best as a human being. Because by nature, the future is about death, right?
For me, 2022 is a year that makes me feel grateful, not because of the many achievements, but how I can make peace with myself. Especially after I came home on vacation last November, it kind of made me believe a little that even though my world was shattered, there is so much more for me to be grateful for.
Likewise regarding my view of the world, I began to open up to many things that were beyond my mind, when last November I came to a place that is quite famous in Bangkok, a building that is very, very large enough to explore art, the Bangkok Art and Culture Museum.
Located in the middle of the city, this building looks very large and is easily accessible, you can use the bus, MRT and public transportation available in Bangkok. This building has many floors that function as FREE exhibition venues for anyone who visits. This place is one of the favorite places for tourists as well as local residents for recreation and learning. I saw many visitors who came such as students, local residents and tourists who saw modern art performances.
This building has 6 floors, all of which are used for local and international art exhibitions, some of which are art in the form of sculpture, painting, audio-visual, traditional tools and many more. Everything is enabled for FREE without being charged a penny. Interestingly, this building is right in front of the MBK Bangkok Mall.
When I first entered this building, I saw a very large and tall building, I thought this would be very interesting for me to explore, where I have never seen such a large museum in my city. When compared, it may be very different with a 1:10 ratio. In front of the entrance, there is a statue called the giant twins standing firmly as if to welcome us into the building. With great detail, the statue seems to have an important element for this building.
Still with strict health protocols, to enter the building you must have your body temperature checked and also wear a mask. It is hoped that you will always use hand sanitizer to be hygienic, because this museum is a public place that anyone can enter. On the ground floor, it is mostly used for the functional areas of the building, maybe there are also several halls that can be used or rented, but I didn't pay much attention because I was immediately hooked on the next floor. This 1st floor has a wall size that is higher than the other floors, maybe as a foundation and also makes several halls that need more space so they are not crowded.
Riding the escalator, I went up to the 2nd floor, there are many merchants selling souvenirs and restaurants here. It's not difficult to find food if you feel hungry, and don't forget to buy art souvenirs in the form of tote bags, paintings and mini sculptures that you will definitely like, the price is not too expensive, still very affordable.
All art starts to be displayed from the 2nd floor, where lots of abstract and modern paintings are displayed along the walls, this is what makes the design of this building so unique, making use of all the space for performances, there are also several rooms specifically for art exhibitions from only one artist , there are also those who are outside the room.
This building is designed to be more open, using the sun as the main light source, so you can save money on electricity usage. Besides, sunlight would be better for that. All art exhibitions here can shine brightly with optimal lighting.
This building is very unique, in the shape of a circle that fills one another, very nicely designed so that we can walk around to see all the art exhibitions, so that nothing is missed. If we look from the inside of the building, like the photo below, you will see the stairs and rooms look very neat, well arranged.
Starting from the 5th floor, the stairs leading up are just a sloping floor, you don't use stairs but you have to climb a bit, then all over the walls there are lots of art exhibitions in any form, really beautiful and unique. This is everyone's favorite, many visitors take pictures and even create content on Instagram or TikTok. However, I like to look at all the existing works, they are truly enchanting, even though I don't understand the meaning of the art, it will be very acceptable to me, who is not a layman.
I entered into a hallway on the 5th floor and found many paintings in very large sizes, full of color and uniqueness. This hallway is so long and also has a wide space, I also saw that on the roof there were several curtains hanging to dampen the direct sun's heat that entered the room. This building uses a glass roof that can block rain and maximize sunlight. Really interesting isn't it?
See you the next time hive friends!

This culture center is full of art and architecture! This looks very big though. I bet you enjoyed watching those arts they made.
I really enjoyed it, even this is the first time I know a lot about art.
Oh wow! What a spectacular museum @aswita! Indeed, Thailand has leveled up their game in terms of modern landmarks for the sole purpose of catering to humanity's creative talents, exhibiting paintings, sculptures, and other fabulous masterpieces. That remarkable site pretty much took inspiration from the original design concept developed by master Architect Frank Lloyd Wright for his epic project in New York called the Guggenheim Museum. I was vividly reminded of my actual experiences in that American city where visitors also had to view artworks by walking slowly on a slightly sloping ramp patterned in a circular floor plan. To give you an idea, here are snapshots of that world-famous building:

How would you describe your overall architectural experience in the BACC? Did your walk on that sloping platform make you feel dizzy or trigger a sense of vertigo?
you know so much about BACC, and it's amazing. I just walk and enjoy works of art that I don't understand at all, but it's enough to amaze me with humans who have extraordinary works of art.
I don't feel vertigo at all, even though I have a history of vertigo. not tiring at all, all the stairs and access in the building are very comfortable and capable.
Okay. that's great @aswita. At least your head won't go spinning the next time around. Have fun! 😊
Hello @aswita. There seems to be an issue with your post's cover image as it only shows a blank white space when viewed on PeakD. Can you please make the necessary adjustments. Thank you. 😀
