Greetings ASEAN Hivers, this week's challenge is all about urban exploration, which basically means exploring abandoned urban ruins and derelict vacant buildings.

π¨βπ» Week #100 π©βπ»
March 11th β‘οΈ March 18th, 2024Β Β Β This week's challenge is all about urban exploration, and this usually means abandoned buildings and/or derelict vacant structures. If there are any structures, homes, or buildings like this near you, here's an opportunity to highlight them. Put on your walking shoes and open your camera apps and/or get out your cameras out for this unique challenge. Perhaps even make sure you have current tetanus shots because we don't want anybody getting hurt exploring unstable structures.
Β Β Β This also marks the 100th ASEAN Hive Challenge, quite a milestone I must say. Whether it be colonial buildings that are barely standing, or even a failed construction project from a few years ago, all are suitable subjects for this #urbex challenge. My village here in Cambodia has only 10 families, so there are no structures here left to rot, but perhaps I can do some exploring in one of the nearby towns, the abandoned Cambodian casino near my home would be a good subject. Okay folks, remember to provide details about your urban exploring, things like the name of the place, the year it was built or abandoned, location, etc., all are useful details to include.

Β Β Β First of all I would like to apologize both for the contests coming a little late the last few weeks. My wife and daughters' health has not been good, plus there have been funerals and weddings that my wife attended, so I needed to stay home and cook, clean, etc. I haven't been able to engage with challenge entries as much as I'd like to, but do know I took the time to read each entry even if I don't find time to comment right away. I loved learning more about Southeast Asian culture and history via the challenge entries shared this week.

It has been a while since my last participation in the ASEAN Hive Community Challenge. This week's theme has caught my attention because it revolves around local legends or myths. As a Dayak Iban of Borneo, the culture of my people boasts a rich folklore encompassing myths, epics, and histories. You might assume that I possess an extensive knowledge of these aspects, but unfortunately, I don't π . However, during my childhood, my dad used to narrate these folklores (known as "ensera" in Iban) to my siblings and me, though regrettably, I don't remember much.

I won't be sharing urban legends in this challenge, but I want to share some stories related to Sto. NiΓ±o de Cebu who we sometimes call Sto. NiΓ±o Palaboy. The word palaboy means wanderer in English, so I'll explain how he got this nickname in a bit. In Roman Catholicism, Santo NiΓ±o is the child Jesus. However, aside from the belief based on religion, there are several interesting stories related to Him, but I'm going to share two of them. Let's start with the first story...
3rd Prize π₯ 4% Beneficiary & 75 Ecency Points

In the year, 2020, we bought a lot here in the City of Carcar, and built a nipa hut for temporary shelter while the tiny house was still constructed. We were new in this place many passed by and befriended us. One of our neighbor, Rosalio, an old man taxi driver who had a stroke, always walking as his exercise then stopped by our place and chat with us. He was(because he passed away last month of January) so friendly and talkative.

Little bit scary, haha! Because we need to visit some hunted house or buildings near our place. Or maybe I can captured a photo of white lady on the windows, or "kapres smoking/ a tall dark and big man like gorillas". This is a fun challenge but really enjoying. Actually this is my first time for the challenge, hopes I can participate :).
My hometown back in the USA is full of abandoned buildings because the economy has been in decline there since the 1980s. Shame I couldn't share anything from there for this challenge, but I will do some exploring in the future some day next time I visit.
The scary part of it hereπ is the trespassing, people may find me weird if I explore ruins or abandoned place or house. Anyways, congratulations to the myth π winners. Interesting folklore they are.
Hahah really a trespassing but anyway it is abandoned, no worries @amayphin no owner that might anger. So, have your entry :)
Yes, I like to explore, but would always be nervous if there may be someone inside or angry owner, haha.
Many many congratulations to the winners.

Hello, this is entry. Thank you.

Lovely entry, very spooky. The village I live in currently is only 15 years old, so there is nothing here old enough to be abandoned and explored yet.
