Spineless and Variegated Colour Cactus collection

Hi Hive Gardener back again in my plant content especially with succulent and cactus. I love this kind of plants that very easy to keep and not to fussy to take care. In this content i want to share both my spineless cactus and variegated colour cactus that i have and i want to share what the special of both of this cactus.

First i want to share about spineless cactus that called Astrophytum Asterias one of the genus that very common in many places in the world. this cactus can called star cactus or star peyote in many world. In Indonesia we called this cactus Astro to shorten the name. Astro itself not too long ago entering in Indonesia maybe in 2014 or 2015 this cactus viral in Indonesia. At first this cactus is very very expensive and that very good to tradeable in domestic. So we need to keep and cultivation with grafting or pollination via Flower seeds. Astro it self developing to many cultivar species that have various form like Astrophytum Asterias Star shape or Astrophytum Asterias Kikko and Astrophytum itself have many species not only Asterias. for example, Astrophytum Myriostygma or Astrophytum Caput medusae and many more.

Okay that the opening about Astrophytum Asterias i am not sharing about the genus and species because i dont have very much in that species too i am just have a little bit. But, here i want to share why i am loving this plant.
First of all of course this plant is catchy in my eyes with white dot and white like fur in the body of this plant.

Like 2 of the picture above the first one is Astrophytum Asterias and the second one is Astrophytum Asterias Nudum the nudum means that the body form is plain no white spot like the first one. These 2 plants is very catchy in my eyes with form like mushroom and not have spine in their body just white spot like their fur. And you know what the spot is never same for every Astro it is like fingerprint in human life.
The second i am loving to take care this plant is i am feeling effortless to take care of this plant. As most people know that cactus is very slow grower so it will take time to change the Plant Soil medium and Pot planter. it takes times around 1-3 years to change the pot planter. but for the soil maybe around 1 year need to change for make sure the root is not root rot and some trimming root will make the plant healthy and can absorb more nutrient in new refreshment soil.

The third as you all know too cactus dont need watering everyday. Yeah cactus still needs watering but if the weather and the temperature is very hot it will need 1-2 days to reguler watering. but if the temperature still on average and so windy and not too hot yeah this plant just need reguler watering around once in a week or once in 4 days. So for me it is very effortless to take care this plant.

And with that when you are in badmood or need for refresh your brain watering this plant and looking this plant can refresh your mind and mood you know.

and so far this is my collection for my Astrophytum plants. maybe if i got many support from Hive i can adding more plants to my collection.

The same reason why i am collecting Variegated cactus in this case i am collecting Gymnocalycium Hybrid Variegata. this cactus like 2 photo above is very catchy right the colour make the cactus is very beauty with combination the spine and the form that symmetrical.
Gymnocalycium Hybrid is the cheapest cactus i have that have brighty colour in my cactus collection. with most of the colour of cactus is red and green that make colour combination that spoiling my eyes. and of course looking of this plant can relieve my stress too.

for your information Gymnocalycium cactus that called Gymno in my country or rather all around the world is very easy to take care. and i am suggesting to choose Gymno if you are newbie and want to starting take care of cactus. either variegated or not this plant is very very easy to take care they need full sun maybe around 85% sun light in their body and need hot temperature (but even in the rainy season Gymno plant can adapt and take the moist and water in their body) and if you need to make the variegated more shiny you need to placing in full direct sun and remember to watering at the sun goes down. Why?? because water at the direct sun can burn the body and make the plant have defect like picture below

you can see this cactus have defect like that because in my country Indonesia especially in Surabaya city in the rainy season ,the rain can goes down in afternoon and the sun is still very hot sometimes even it is rain. and with the water and the sun still spotting the cactus so the body burned and make the defect. But hey look at that this cactus want to blooming its flower. Need some time around 4-6 weeks again to see the flower blooming.

The cultivation of Gymno cactus is very easy you can mate from pollination of the flower or you can cutting the baby and rooting in the ground or you can cutting and graft it.Because Gymno is very easy to take care and propagation so the price is very cheap.I dont know in the other country but in Indonesia the price is around 3-5$ each if the diameter touch 3-4cm.
