My Amazing Day at Vizcaya Museum in Florida, part 1
A couple of years ago I had the chance to visit the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami, Florida, and I can't wait to tell you all about it. I don’t really know why I haven’t posted about it yet, but well...
A Peek into the Past
It was like stepping into a fairy tale right in the heart of Miami. I was pretty surprised to this piece of history in a modern city.
So, Vizcaya was built around a hundred years ago as a winter getaway for a guy named James Deering, who was super rich and really into art and fancy things. The place is like a real-life time machine that takes you back to the past, with its old, old European-inspired architecture.
Fancy, Fancy Architecture
The moment I saw the place, I was blown away. The building itself looks like a palace from Europe with its big, fancy entrance, grand rooms, and beautiful courtyards. It's like something out of a dream. Inside, the rooms are filled with antique furniture, art, and even tapestries. You can really feel the history in every nook and cranny.
Stunning Gardens
But the real magic happens when you step outside. The gardens are like a paradise! There are gardens inspired by Italy and France, with fountains, pools, and statues that make you feel like you're in a royal palace. You can also find a Secret Garden that's tucked away, filled with pretty flowers, and a Tea House with a view of the bay. The gardens are so peaceful and perfect for a leisurely walk.
Art Everywhere
Now, the guy who owned this place, James Deering, was really into art. So, the villa is filled with all sorts of beautiful art from Europe. You'll see paintings, sculptures, and all kinds of decorative stuff. The best part is that they have special art exhibitions from time to time, so you can see something new whenever you visit.
Go Visit!
Today, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a National Historic Landmark, welcoming visitors from around the world to explore its beauty and history. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, an architecture lover, or simply seeking a tranquil escape, Vizcaya offers something for everyone.
The estate hosts various events and programs throughout the year, such as art exhibitions, garden tours, and educational activities for all ages. Be sure to check their website for the latest information on opening hours, admission fees, and upcoming events.
All in all, my visit to Vizcaya was like a trip back in time to a place of incredible beauty and history. It's like a dream come true, and I can't wait to go back and explore even more. Trust me, it's an experience you won't want to miss!
I hope you enjoyed the photos.

I love the exterior of the garden. Looks like a place couples can relax, chat and take beautiful photos.

I must admit that I was surprised to read that this place is in Florida as it to me it looks so Italian. And it also looks older than 100 years. I haven't been to Florida yet, but I didn't expect to have such monuments there..
