It's already summer, you can feel it in the heat, the vibe, the atmosphere and in the music. I say this because recently an album from one of my favorite DJs, Kaytranada, came out, and if there's one thing Kaytranada has, it's that his music always feels like summer. That he has released an album basically unannounced right now and also, along with it, Charli XCX's long awaited album has arrived is something that has to be commented on almost obligatorily, since, truth be told, they are two of the most important musicians of the decade, and the most interesting thing is that they are like that without the need to make a lot of noise in the industry.

Because who is Kaytranada? He is a Haitian Dj producer who has managed to bring out a very own rhythm in all his discography, having collaborations with artists such as Kali Uchis, Her and Aminé (with whom he has a whole album and project called Kaytranime). Now, his latest album, called Timeless is really timeless, with a sound that despite being very summery, at times sounds like a summer in the seventies, eighties, nineties, two thousand and contemporary, this is achieved with the help of several artists such as Anderson Paak, SiR, Don Toliver, Donald Glover and several others. With this I mean, that even though his album came out a few days ago it gives the perfect entrance for the summer, and it is also a great to listen to it while cleaning, writing, dancing or doing any activity, but not for that you have to stop (or start) by Timeless, as Kaytranada is one of those few artists who have a perfect discography for in every way, as long as you like the kind of music that makes this amazing dj, of course.

And Charli XCX, well, the truth is that pop today would not exist without Charli XCX. A few days ago I was talking with some friends about the most important musical artists of the decade and obviously, you can mention Taylor Swift, Adele, Dua Lipa, Karol G, but Charli XCX's name will be in the mouth of virtually anyone who is among the hyperpop niche. Charli already said it several times, if you heard something, she already did it, and it's not a lie; Charli creates trend under the table, because it's true, XCX's music is not only “ahead of the curve”, but it can be too much for those who don't like it, that's why several artists have the idea of imitating her but putting the brakes on her ideas, making pop music, worth the redundancy, more pop. That's what I like about Charli, that she doesn't shy away from making a difference and setting a trend, something she had already done with Crash, but now with Brat her sound is so hypnotic and addictive that it seems she has already won the pop album of the year. With an electropop so fun but at the same time with a production so extravagant but equally so incredibly curated that any good producer would want to have done Brat before.

Undoubtedly, two of the most interesting artists in contemporary music have made this month, which is just beginning, a real surprise. With incredible songs like Fred Again with Anderson Paak, Billie Eilish's album and Childish Gambino's “new” album, it is clear that this summer's music will bring a lot of interesting things to listen to.

Ya es verano, se siente en el calor, la vibra, el ambiente y en la música. Digo esto porque hace poco salió un álbum de uno de mis Djs favoritos, Kaytranada, y si algo tiene Kaytranada es que su música siempre se siente como verano. Que haya sacado un álbum básicamente sin previo aviso justo ahora y además, junto a él, haya llegado el álbum tan esperado de Charli XCX es algo que se tiene que comentar casi obligatoriamente, ya que, la verdad, son dos de los músicos más importantes de la década, y lo más interesante es que son así sin la necesidad de hacer mucho ruido en la industria

Porque, ¿quién es Kaytranada? Es un Dj productor haitiano que ha sabido sacar un ritmo muy propio en toda su discografía, teniendo colaboraciones con artistas como Kali Uchis, Her y Aminé (con quien tiene todo un álbum y proyecto llamado Kaytranime). Ahora, su último álbum, llamado Timeless es, realmente, atemporal, con un sonido que a pesar de ser muy de verano, por momentos suena a un verano en los setentas, en los ochentas, noventa, dos miles y contemporáneo, esto lo logra con ayuda de varios artistas cómo Anderson Paak, SiR, Don Toliver, Donald Glover y varios otros. Con esto quiero decir, que a pesar de que su álbum salió hace unos pocos días da la entrada perfecta para el verano, y además es toda una pasada para escucharlo mientras limpias, escribes, bailas o haces cualquier actividad, pero no por eso tienes que parar (o empezar) por Timeless, ya que Kaytranada es de esos pocos artistas que tienen una discografía perfecta para en todo sentido, siempre y cuando te guste el tipo de música que hace este increíble dj, claro está.

Y Charli XCX, bueno, la verdad es que el pop de ahora no existiría sin Charli XCX. Hace unos días estaba hablando con unos amigos sobre las artistas musicales más importantes de la década y obvio, puedes mencionar a Taylor Swift, Adele, Dua Lipa, Karol G, pero el nombre de Charli XCX estará en la boca de prácticamente cualquier persona que este entre el nicho del hyperpop. Ya Charli lo dijo varias veces, si escuchaste algo, ya ella lo hizo, y no es mentira; Charli crea tendencia por debajo de la mesa, porque es verdad, la música de XCX no solo es “adelantada”, sino que puede ser demasiado para quien no le gusta, por eso varias artistas tienen la idea de imitarla pero poniéndole freno a sus ideas, haciendo música pop, valga la redundancia, más pop. Eso es lo que me gusta de Charli, que no se cohíbe a marcar una diferencia y a su vez una tendencia, cosa que ya había hecho con Crash, pero ahora con Brat su sonido es tan hipnótico y adictivo que parece que ya tiene ganado el álbum pop del año. Con un electropop tan divertido pero a su vez con una producción tan extravagante pero de igual forma tan increíblemente curada que cualquier buen productor quisiera haber hecho Brat antes.

Sin duda, dos de los artistas más interesantes de la música contemporánea han hecho de este mes, que apenas empieza, toda una sorprenda. Contando además con canciones increíbles como la de Fred Again con Anderson Paak, el álbum de Billie Eilish y el “nuevo” álbum de Childish Gambino, se nota que este verano la música traerá muchas cosas interesantes para escuchar.
