¿Cómo luce la verdadera amistad? Algunos podrían decir que se ve como las amistades que su publican, que siempre se ven, que están siempre juntas o cosas de ese estilo, pero la verdad la verdadera amistad “no luce” de ninguna manera, la verdadera amistad se siente. Si es cierto que para tener una buena amistad gran parte de las veces hay que verse de vez en cuando y sentirse orgulloso por los amigos que tienes, se entiende que muchas veces no hay tiempo para ver a tus amigos, y así como con tu familia, hay otras veces que te acostumbras tanto a las personas que no entra en tu cabeza “presumirlas”.
Pero entonces, ¿cómo se siente una amistad? Aunque es una pregunta ambigua que tiene una respuesta diferente en la boca de cada una de las personas a las que les preguntes, mi idea de amistad se forja con amor, y ese amor viene lleno de apoyo, cariño, felicidad y dulzura. En años anteriores, este tipo de adjetivos no me llegaba a la mente a la hora de pensar en una amistad y realmente me duele mucho pensar en todos los amigos que ya no están en mi vida por cómo creía que funcionaban las relaciones (incluso ahora no estoy tan seguro de cómo funcionan y por lo mismo creo que es probable que siga perdiendo amistades con el tiempo, pero realmente espero que no), sin embargo, veo mi yo del pasado y lo comparo con quien soy ahora y me alegra notar el cambio, saber que hay diferencia, hay crecimiento.
Frente a mi casa hay un asilo y, desde hace unos años, una señora venía a la casa a que yo le hiciera los trámites desde su teléfono. Los pagos, agregar contactos, buscar fotos, todo lo que tuviese que ver con su teléfono. Al principio era netamente por dinero, pero después con la confianza la señora venía y hablaba más y más conmigo, sin importar mucho la hora, se convirtió en una vecina que venía recurrentemente. Hace unos días se fue del país y hoy, al llegar a mi casa, me veo en la sorpresa de encontrarme con un regalo de su parte. Me había comprado un almuerzo y en la caja dónde venía decía “muchas gracias por tu amistad”. ¿Qué amistad? Desde mi punto de vista la señora venía de vez en cuando por algún problema, pero sin darme cuenta ella había cosechado en mí una amistad que no tenía con nadie (ya que sus hijos no estaban en el país y las otras señoras del asilo no le agradaban).
Pensar en cómo ayudé a la señora Rosario para que ella haya visto en mí una amistad me hace creer que no ha sido nada más con ella, y así cómo ella vio un amigo en una relación que yo veía banal, yo tal vez haya visto amistad en personas que ni me topan. No está mal, mejorar la vida de las personas de forma inconsciente es algo increíble, y conseguir quien mejore tu vida o solamente unos momentos de ella, eso la verdad es amistad.

What does true friendship look like? Some might say that it looks like the friendships that are published, that you always see each other, that are always together or things like that, but the truth is that true friendship does not "look" in any way, true friendship is felt. If it is true that to have a good friendship most of the times you have to see each other from time to time and feel proud of the friends you have, it is understood that many times there is no time to see your friends, and just like with your family, there are other times that you get so used to people that it does not enter your head to "show them off".
But then, what does a friendship feel like? Although it's an ambiguous question that has a different answer in the mouths of each and every person you ask, my idea of friendship is forged with love, and that love comes full of support, affection, happiness and sweetness. In previous years, these types of adjectives didn't come to mind when thinking of a friendship and it really hurts me a lot to think of all the friends that are no longer in my life because of how I thought relationships worked (even now I'm not so sure how they work and for the same reason I think it's likely I will continue to lose friendships over time, but I really hope not), however, I see my past self and compare it to who I am now and I'm glad to notice the change, to know that there is a difference, there is growth.
Across the street from my house there is a nursing home and, for a few years, a lady used to come to the house and ask me to do the paperwork for her from her phone. Payments, adding contacts, looking up photos, anything to do with her phone. At the beginning it was purely for money, but then with confidence the lady came and talked more and more with me, regardless of the time, she became a recurring neighbor. A few days ago she left the country and today, when I arrived home, I was surprised to find a gift from her. She had bought me lunch and on the box it said "thank you very much for your friendship". What friendship? From my point of view the lady came from time to time for some problem, but without realizing it she had harvested in me a friendship that she did not have with anyone (since her children were not in the country and the other ladies in the asylum did not like her).
Thinking about how I helped Mrs. Rosario so that she has seen in me a friendship makes me believe that it has been nothing more with her, and just as she saw a friend in a relationship that I saw as banal, I may have seen friendship in people who do not even run into me. It is not wrong, to improve people's lives in an unconscious way is something incredible, and to get someone to improve your life or just a few moments of it, that really is friendship.
