Light Streaks - Melbourne Central Station
Melbourne Central Station Sunset
I took this long exposure shot at the Flinders Street Railway Station, which is one of the most popular landmarks of Melbourne, some time back in May this year. There was a regular stream of cars turning at this junction, so it made a nice spot to get the light streaks with the Railway Station as the backdrop. I did have to try a fair bit in order to get a shot I wanted, as there were trams moving along the stretch as well, and the moving trams tended to disrupt the "flow" of the light streaks.
While I was fairly satisfied with the shot, I thought it might have turned out even better if it was a little taken further down the street. I'll probably try it again if I ever go back to Melbourne for a visit. The second shot was taken around sunset, probably with a 1 or 2 second shutter speed, so you can see a little of the light streaks as well. The Princes Bridge and the Yarra River is right behind the Railway Station, so I also managed to get a nice sunset shoot of the river before I moved on to this long exposure.
In total, I spent about a week in and around Melbourne, and I enjoyed it very much. I'll be back in future again!
