LIES AND CONSEQUENCES (TRUE STORY)

Quick question, So have you ever been caught in a lie? and if you have what did you do to get out of it?

Well, in my case I wasn't any different,
I mean who doesn't lie? We all lie when we are trying to get out of a problem or to make situations seem better than they're or to deescalate situations, I mean, we could lie because of anything just to make the situation better for ourselves or for the other person involved. Well, this time around it wasn't for anyone though because I was trying to help myself 😂

So in one of my write-up* life of a typical Nigerian student, *I omited one particular story because it's not an experience, I like sharing, why? Because today when I still think of it I laugh at myself cause I never knew I'd get caught, I wondered how I was going to get out of that situation.

So my first year in school was a very nice and Awesome experience. And as I said earlier, in part one, I talked about how I was able to Go around my school just to get familiar with everything around me. But I didn't mention the parts where I lied 😂 and nearly got myself into big trouble with my course advisor.

So, we had to submit this paper called record file. It had details of your 100 level to your 400 level courses, Just overall anything that have to do with your studies in that record file and it had to be submitted to our course advisor at a particular time but for those that had not paid for their faculty dues, we were restricted from submitting ours.

We were given an ultimatum like a particular day for us to submit the record file or else face the consequence, I didn't know even want to know the consequences, all I wanted was to make sure I got my record file signed. So I went to my course advisors office, I went there with hopes of getting it signed because some people in my class had told me about how they were going to the office to tell him that they left their faculty due receipts at home? So they couldn't get it because they lived far away but they've paid, and he would just sign for them, I had to sign mine that day So I heard the story and I was like, wow, that means I can do the same thing. I can just go there tell him the same story he would sign it, easy peazy. I can do this,

I got today his office. I saw the crowd people coming out telling me the same story that they were able to get their record file signed after saying they left their receipt at home and that their house was far away so they could not go and get it. So he just signed. I went in to his office with hopes of submitting my record file and not having to pay for faculty dues just because I was broke as at the time and i already used the money they gave to me to pay for the faculty to dues. So I went to his office, I gave him the record file, and he asked me, Where is your faculty receipts? And I said, the same story, I said I'd left my faculty due receipts at home and it was far away and I could not go and get it, for no particular reason This man stared at me for like I can't tell if it was up to 15 or 20 seconds,he was Just looking at my eyes, I guess I'm not very good Liar 😂 He told me that I should go home and get my receipts, I kept begging this man, I was like, sir please my receipt is far away I can't go and get it, He looked at me and told me with his face so serious,he said Anita go home and bring that receipts or else I'm not signing your record file and I knew from then on words that I was in big trouble.and if i didn't get that receipt I was going to be in a more bigger mess.

So I told myself there's no way out of this You have to go pay for this faculty due, Had to go borrow money from a friend of mine to pay for the receipt and I got my receipt and thought about everything I was going to say. I went back to his office, and said I went home to collect the receipts, This is the receipt, I didn't think about that lie really well,i gave him the receipt and I was like here is the receipt and he was like, you just went to pay and I was like, no, I didn't just go to pay He answered, I'm telling you just went to pay, you telling me you didn't just go to pay, I then said I paid this faculty due since I didn't just go to pay now, he just looked at me and said, wow, Anita, look at the date of this receipt, Then I checked it then dawned on me that I didn't think about the lie properly 😂 because then and there I knew I was caught and there was no way i was getting out of this, So I said, sir, I mean I was caught already, I just had to apologize immediately. I was like** Sir I'm so sorry I didn't have the money to pay and I didn't know how to get out of it,So I had to lie, other people (coursemates) were telling me that they've been coming to your office to tell you that they've paid and you signed without seeing their reciept so I decided to do same** 😂(yes I had to be a snitch, I had no choice) at this point my heart was nearly coming out of my chest because it was beating so fast, And he looked at me and said,** Anita you're going to be a big trouble in this department** and right there that was enough for me to just tell myself that for the remaining time I was going to spend in that school that that man was never going to hear my name in any case.

Like I was going to be MIA, to keep doing things on my on a low. I made sure I wasn't getting into any trouble at all, Well, thankfully he let me go and told me he was going to be keeping a watchful eye on me and that was it.

That was how I go out of his office with my heart still pounding 😂Like it was beating wildly and till my old age I will never forget that day 😂
