Savory Seasoned Rice Recipe for Breakfast
Food menus that are served quickly and with simple ingredients can really help you keep your energy intake and save time in the morning.
How To Make 'Savory Seasoned Rice Recipe'
Preparing breakfast for the family can be a very tough job, especially if preparing breakfast for those who have to go to work in the morning. We have to get up early and manage our time well so we can do other things while making breakfast.
This time I really had to prepare breakfast quickly, also with minimal ingredients because the previous day I didn't have time to shop for vegetables at the market.
So I decided to make savory seasoned rice. Here we name the menu “NASI GURIH”. 'Gurih' means savory. This rice-based menu uses coconut milk and various spices to taste very tasty and can be eaten without side dishes.
This savory seasoned rice is usually served for breakfast, with side dishes. But it is also very helpful for those who have trouble preparing side dishes in time. This seasoned rice can be eaten just like that because it has a savory taste.
This of course really helped me. I just need the help of a rice cooker and let it do the work to cook savory seasoned rice. Then while waiting for it to finish, I'll do another morning's work.
Secrets of savoury rice
Rice is tasteless. To make it taste delicious and worth eating even without side dishes, there are some spices used which are the secret why rice is so delicious.
In addition to spices that produce a delicious authentic fragrance, another important ingredient comes from coconut milk. Without coconut milk, there will be no delicious savory seasoned rice.
For the rice and coconut milk, here I don't use ml. Usually, I use the index finger line. Do not let the coconut milk or water cross the first line of the index finger. But this method is of course adapted to the type of rice you use.
So you can see the instructions for using the rice that you use to produce a good rice texture later. Well, the use of coconut milk will make the rice dry quickly, but not yet cooked. That's why later we need to steam the rice again so that the rice is cooked perfectly.
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
Prepare the spices to be used. Prepare the flattened galangal, ginger, and lemongrass, as well as kaffir lime leaves and bay leaves.
In a rice cooker, mix the coconut milk with the spices, as well as the additional salt and spices that you usually use when cooking.
Before adding rice to the coconut milk mixture, I tasted the mixture first. If it doesn't taste salty yet, then I add sugar. But if it's too salty, I add sugar, or you can add a little water.
Then add the rice, and mix well. Make sure the amount of water matches the amount of rice to get the right texture of the rice.
Cook the rice until all the coconut milk has been absorbed into the rice. Then stir before putting in the steamer.
In the final step, steam the rice until cooked. You can taste the rice if in doubt. If the texture of the rice is still hard, then steam it again.
After the savory seasoned rice is cooked, serve it with accompaniments such as fried onions, or crackers, or roasted seeds.
My family members are very happy to be able to eat this savory seasoned rice for breakfast. Even though the ingredients are simple, at least it can increase energy in the morning and help us get back to our daily routines with enthusiasm, and of course with love. :)
