Old Fashioned Fried Rice With Some Of Veggies
Recently, I miss my late mother more often. That's because my gardening activities remind me of my late mother who also enjoyed gardening.
With my abundant harvest, I imagined how happy my late mother would be who helped me harvest in the garden. Also, various vegetables that I grew my late mother's favorite in the garden.
When I miss my late mother, I usually cook dishes that my late mother often cooked in the past. Especially the times when I was little.
For today's recipe, I will cook Old Fashioned Fried Rice. This fried rice recipe is said to be very simple but is usually often cooked as a breakfast dish for Indonesians.
This is because cooking fried rice is very easy, you only need to mix all the ingredients. Also, the rice used usually comes from last night's leftover rice.
This time I will cook fried rice for dinner. I still have leftover rice from lunch this afternoon. I adjusted some herbs to my kitchen stocks.
For example, celery leaves are usually used in Old Fashioned Fried Rice. I replaced it with kaffir lime leaves because I didn't have celery leaves in stock.
Also, I ran out of garlic tonight. So, I skipped the garlic in this recipe. Feel free to add 3 cloves of garlic of you want to try to make this recipe.
For veggies, I use carrots, cauliflowers, and long beans. Feel free to add peas, or green beans.
In this recipe, I shape long beans similar to the shape of flowers. Just to fulfill my creative desires. Feel free to just cut the long beans into pieces if you don't want to shape the long beans into a flower shape.
The Ingredients
- enough rice, I use 2 plates of cooked rice
- 50 grams of cauliflowers
- 1 small carrot
- some long beans
- 3 kaffir lime leaves, finely chopped
- 5 small cloves of red onion, sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 2 tbsp of sweet soy sauce
- 2 eggs for serving
Cooking Instructions
SERVING
Serve fried rice with fresh basil leaves, sunny side up, and additional sauce. For a more old style, add slices of cucumber and tomatoes. But I ran out of stock of cucumbers and tomatoes, so I just added basil.
