Fasting Centralized Social Media and Creating New Snacks with Corn Flavor

Oh, I really hate drama. Something that's made up on purpose, or..., showing off a lot on centralized social media especially on YouTube, or even worse, on Tiktok. Leading public opinion to a topic has become very easy. As a result, many people find it difficult to be themselves because they are afraid of not being accepted by their community.

Have you ever fasted on social media and felt the real impact? To be honest, I've been on a social media fast for a long time, especially Instagram. For Tiktok, I haven't created an account there at all in the past.

Currently, I even cut off my WhatsApp for my family members and my friends. I just have a WhatsApp for my husband 😅 I don't know if this is strange or not. It's just that I feel more comfortable. I feel like the people who reach out are just taking advantage of me when they need me.

As I grow older, I become more appreciative of time to spend on my own peace. Not time spent watching other people's fun on social media.

But don't worry, I still have a Discord account that is active at all times. For me stay connected with friends at Hive.

Well, this time I will make a new snack recipe that I have never tried before. A little complicated, but the results are really crispy! I love the result even though I only use potatoes and corn flavor powder. Stay tuned ❤️

A Little Tricky But Just Need Requires More Practice

I want to make interesting shapes as snacks for my little nephews. So, I decided to use a skewer to skewer the potato pieces.

Well, I chose a potato that was big and long to make it easier to cut it the way I wanted it.

Next, put a piece of potato in the middle of the two skewers.

This is to provide a limit so that my knife does not slice under a piece of potato. First, I sliced horizontally.

On the other side, I used diagonal slices while sticking skewers on both sides.

After carefully slicing, I pierced the potato with a skewer. This step is really tricky. I don't want the sliced potatoes to fall apart.

Thankfully, the more I did it, the more proficient I felt with it. Although, until my potatoes run out, I feel that there is no perfect form. 🤣🤣🤣 HELP: I need a spiral potato tools. LOL

Before frying them, I soak them in water so they don't change color. Moreover, slicing them really takes time and you are not used to it.




Heat the oil. Then fry the potatoes that have been skewered with skewers. Don't forget to drain the water before putting them in the hot oil.

Fry until golden brown, then remove and drain them.




Corn Flavor Powder

Here in my city, people are accustomed to using various flavor powders to add to potato or cassava snacks. The most popular are corn flavor and spicy flavor.

Because I wanted to share these snacks with my nephew, so I chose to use corn flavor powder.

While it was warm, I sprinkled the fries with corn flavor powder. It's not really visible in the picture because the powder quickly seeped into the fries.

I really like the result. So are my little nephews.

But I think in the future, I will make this type of snack using general types of potatoes. Not red potatoes.

The red potatoes I use have a softer texture than potatoes in general. So, it will make the potatoes easily break apart after slicing.

I don't have tiktok, hardly accepting any new friend request on facebook, and I didn't even know that you can make a status on whatsapp until recently since I hardly looked into it. hahaha And yeah, sometimes cutting that toxic thing can be good for your own mental health. : )

The truth is that since I am in hive I don't have time for social networks, I have whatsat because I have to communicate with my family, my mom, sister, etc, who emigrated from this country and are far away and with some friends from hive. But the networks are not needed at all.

This looks divine, I love french fries and with that powder they must taste great, I don't know if they sell it here. I can see that your process was difficult (potatoes vs skewers) but we creative people always insist on getting what we want hahaha, you did it and it looks beautiful. I can't because my family is in different countries around the world, my mom, sister and nephews in Canada, cousin uncles, USA, another Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, etc, I am in Venezuela and it is impossible to pay for direct calls, only internet and anyway it fails and the electricity goes out a lot. But we talk from time to time.

Years ago I had proto-smartphones, before real smartphones really were a thing. It was the early days of being able to use social media on your phone. And I realized that it was becoming a problem to have the internet in my pocket. I was always checking it, in line, in the bathroom, everywhere, lol. So when that phone died, I actually downgraded to a simpler phone without internet. And I kept it that way for years. I still had social media on my desktop computer, but I couldn't check it all the time. I still had a simple phone up until smartphones became so necessary to do almost anything in the world these days with apps, and then I finally relented and got one.
I haven't had a problem with it since. I'm the person who can put my phone down and forget about it for two days.
Sometimes forcing yourself to take a break in one way or another is just what you need! :)

Can't wait to buy potatoes. I will definitely try this and will use brown sugar instead of corn powder. Sprinkle some sugar into the oil while frying and when it caramelizes, it will stick to the potatoes.
