Beauty is subjective. But let me show you guys how I serve stir-fried young papaya with fried potato balls.

Young papaya in my city is better known as a vegetable. Usually, sellers at traditional markets cut young papaya into noodles in shape.

Actually, the type of papaya used is neither completely young nor completely ripe. It was in half-ripe papaya condition. This is what makes the papaya look orange-yellow. Not completely orange.

At the afternoon market in my area, I also bought a pack of Papaya Noodles. I have presented this recipe on my Hive blog. So, I have to be able to make a difference this time. Different plating methods are a good thing to present differences.

I will combine it with beautiful colored potato balls. Their color gradations are almost the same. So, I'm going to add a little splash of different colors of edible blue pea flowers. Let's enjoy my cooking process which presents Papaya Noodles as the main focus.

For the record, I cooked Papaya Noodles first. Meanwhile I made the potato balls behind.

It's best to fry the potato balls just before serving. When they cool to room temperature, the potato balls that are crunchy on the outside will lose their crunchy texture. However, their taste is still the same.

THE INGREDIENTS

Stir-fried Papaya Noodles

  • 200-300 grams of Papaya Noodles
  • 3 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 5 small cloves of red onion, chopped
  • a tumb-size of flattened ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 2 bay leaves

Fried Potato Balls

  • 1 potato or 1 cup of potatoes that have been cut into pieces
  • 3 tablespoons corn flour
  • 2 small stalks of celery, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

Stir-fry Papaya Noodles

I can confirm that cooking Papaya Noodles is quite easy. Especially in a short time so that the texture of the young papaya is not damaged so it becomes too soft.

27121612-E41C-4EA3-9F93-ACB04DD2CC79.jpeg
We only need to stir-fry seasoning first. Start by heating cooking oil, then stir-fry garlic, onion, ginger, and bay leaves. If you can smell the good smell of garlic and red onion, the next step is to add salt, pepper and coriander powder. And mix them well.

4391E87D-880D-4E82-8C4A-4A86B82AC821.jpeg
Once the seasoning is ready, add the young papaya noodles. Stir well for about 3 minutes then remove from heat. In the technique of stirring Papaya Noodles, I use a pair of chopsticks and a fork so that the spices are evenly mixed into the Papaya. Also, to avoid the papaya's texture being destroyed.

Boil Potato Pieces

DE314D74-A028-4262-83C2-F1EADC3E37EC.jpeg
Bring the water to a boil. Then cook the potato pieces with the addition of a pinch of salt.

Boil the potatoes covered for about 10 minutes, or until the texture of the potatoes is soft and can be crushed. Drain the water.

Mash Boiled Potato

Prepare a bowl. Mix boiled potatoes with corn flour, salt, and chopped celery.

I used a fork to mash them until their texture can be forming into like balls.

Forming Potato Balls

F457AB13-63F0-4E62-979E-7EFD9F220B87.jpeg
I smeared both hands with cooking oil first. This is so my hands don't get sticky when forming the dough into balls.

Fry Potato Balls

2BDEFF99-967F-4753-AEA6-04528A79DA5B.jpeg
Heat the oil, then fry the potato balls until brown. Don't take too long or the balls will be imperfectly round.

Remove then drain briefly from the oil. Then serve with stir-fried Papaya Noodles while warm.

The stir-fried Papaya Noodles arrangement does require time on the plate. But it turns out I really like the end result!

Stir-fried Papaya Noodles and potato balls have a beautiful harmony because they have the same color gradation. Also, adding a little contrasting color from the blue pea flowers makes them more attractive.

In Venezuela, dear friend @anggreklestari we call papaya papaya and we generally use it to make juices, smoothies, it is very diuretic. It's good that you consume it, it is very nutritious and nutritious. I like the usefulness you give it. I wish you a lot of success.

Young papaya, really delicious cooked in any way, I usually use half ripe papaya to make a clear sauce.

You make it into vegan noodles, very interesting, the combination of potato balls makes it look complete, very tempting.

We are also cooking papaya by sauteing it. We are adding some soy sauce on it and it's color turned to brown.

Potato balls, it is like doing some patties but this time it's round and like a ball.

Every time you say celery, I don't know what it really is. Is it the tops of the celery, because we typically eat the stalk. Or maybe it's something else all together, but that's what you call it in your part of the world.

This is what I think of when I hear celery.

Many times the top (leaves) are chopped off before purchase.

In my country (Indonesia) we don't have big celery like in your image. Big celery usually just for juice

Yeah, you can take part just leaves. And do not use the stem part 😊

I think that's funny since many times the grocery removes the leaves before putting it out to sell. I've never used celery leaves. We chop up the stalk and use that for added flavor and crunch in various items.

Many of us like to take a stalk and fill the inside of it with peanut butter to eat that way.
