Family holidays, visit to the biopark || Vacaciones en familia, visita al bioparque 🐈

Greetings to the dear Hive community!

With the start of a new month, I want to share some of the moments I experienced with my family during this recently concluded Easter Week.

I live in a city different from that of my parents, and my older brother lives in another city. Therefore, we decided to take advantage of these holidays to reunite as a family and enjoy a few very pleasant days together.

We visited my brother in the city of Acacias, Meta, Colombia. There, we explored Los Ocarros Biopark, whose name pays homage to the Ocarro or giant armadillo, a species on the brink of extinction. This biopark is the only center specialized in the conservation of endangered animal species in the Orinoco region.

During our visit, we had the opportunity to admire a wide variety of animals: felines, reptiles, mammals, and aquatic creatures. Most of them have been rescued from illegal trafficking or mistreatment, and many are undergoing recovery, receiving the veterinary care they deserve.

This experience left me with a nostalgic reflection. Knowing that all these animals have been displaced from their natural habitat due to human invasion or indiscriminate hunting to satisfy superficial needs, and that they now need to be protected in captivity, deeply questions the direction of our society and our actions towards nature.

In conclusion, the visit to Los Ocarros Biopark reminded us of the fragility of wildlife and the responsibility we have as a society towards the conservation of biodiversity. It is crucial to reflect on our actions and work together to protect and preserve the natural world for future generations. May this experience motivate us to take concrete measures to care for our planet and all the species that inhabit it. Let us continue on this path of environmental awareness and action!

¡Saludos a la querida comunidad de Hive!

Con el inicio de un nuevo mes, deseo compartir algunos de los momentos que viví junto a mi familia durante esta recién concluida Semana Santa.

Resido en una ciudad distinta a la de mis padres, y mi hermano mayor vive en otra localidad. Por ello, decidimos aprovechar estas vacaciones para reunirnos en familia y disfrutar de unos días muy gratos juntos.

Nos dirigimos a visitar a mi hermano en la ciudad de Acacias, Meta, Colombia. Allí exploramos el Bioparque Los Ocarros, cuyo nombre rinde homenaje al Ocarro o armadillo gigante, una especie en vías de extinción. Este bioparque es el único centro especializado en la conservación de especies animales en peligro de extinción en la región de la Orinoquia.

Durante nuestra visita, tuvimos la oportunidad de admirar una amplia variedad de animales: felinos, reptiles, mamíferos y acuáticos. La mayoría de ellos han sido rescatados del tráfico ilegal o del maltrato, y muchos se encuentran en proceso de recuperación, recibiendo la atención veterinaria que merecen.

Esta experiencia me dejó una reflexión nostálgica. El saber que todos estos animales han sido desplazados de su hábitat natural debido a la invasión humana o a la caza indiscriminada para satisfacer necesidades superficiales, y que ahora necesiten ser protegidos en cautiverio, me hace cuestionar profundamente el rumbo de nuestra sociedad y nuestras acciones hacia la naturaleza.

En conclusión, la visita al Bioparque Los Ocarros nos recordó la fragilidad de la vida silvestre y la responsabilidad que como sociedad tenemos hacia la conservación de la biodiversidad. Es crucial reflexionar sobre nuestras acciones y trabajar juntos para proteger y preservar el mundo natural para las generaciones futuras. Que esta experiencia nos motive a tomar medidas concretas para cuidar nuestro planeta y todas las especies que lo habitan. ¡Sigamos adelante en este camino de conciencia y acción ambiental!
