Windows: "Youll be monitored and you will be happy."; So lets try growing Linux market share.

Bing.com/create prompt: 'create an image that shows the all seeing eye merged with microsoft as they screenshot everyones computer screens constantly in an overtly Orwellian totalitarian nightmare privacy erasing schema, which is heightened by the irony of you being bing image creator AI gen tool which is also powered by microsoft.'

Microsoft will be screenshotting all your shit, bitch.

Oh sorry, did my provocative header stir and/or offend you? Maybe instead of being offended by what I write, try being offended that Microsoft has unveiled their plans to constantly screenshot all of their users shit to train their AI. They call this system Microsoft Recall, and totally assure us it won't be abused. (And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you, along with a timeshare and a handful of shitcoins.)

Yeah but let's be real; it make's sense: the 'End User' isn't their target audience. Microsoft's target audience is the worker drone bee sitting in a corporate cubicle, and the shitty idiot mid-level managers who rely upon them. Microsoft is so divested from their end user software into Artificial Intelligence that they care as much about their OS as they used too.

So yeah, if you use still use Windows I hope you never click "reveal your private key" on any crypto wallets because you've now opened several different security vector vulnerabilities with the exposition. Pray no bad actor ever gets to ask your Microsoft Recall what your key is, pretending to be you....because its stored in an unencrypted SQL database in the ~/appData/ directory for fucks sake.

Here's a Youtube of a simple python script you can use to access it.

Starting to see the issue?

Alternatives?

Is there such a thing as "incognito" mode from this Microsoftian nightmare? Probably not. I'm sure there's a checkbox you can tick so you can pretend that Microsoft isn't snooping you and lie to yourself that big tech/corp has your best interests at heart. Disabling the feature might make the local non-encrypted SQL DB go away, and I'm suuuuure they aren't storing any sort of other data/metadata.

Surely not.

If only there was an easier way of using your computer without the overbearing weight of an oppressive corporate overlord bearing down, Microsoft. (who also happen to own the patent to the Mark of the Beast, patent no. 2020_060606.)

Pfftttt.... That's just a coincidence bro.

Free thyself: Linux is honestly not hard anymore.

I can hear the chorus of "but..but..but I play vidya games and Linux is like super hard", along with "I'm just so used to Windows / Mac" and "Will it work with my gear." and...and...and...

Dude shut the fuck up and stop, this isn't 2013 anymore.

Seriously. Most people I hear complain about Linux should probably know better. Don't knock it til you try it + technology evolves at an incredible rate.

My Pop OS! Linux laptop has been the most easy to use plug n play gaming system I've ever owned. I turned it on, downloaded Steam, hit go on Doom Eternal, and within 20 minutes I was rockin full raytracing HDR on ultra settings blowing demons to pieces. Sure, there's 1 extra step you need to run games on linux, so hit go and let the vulkan shaders do there thing. Wow, bam, done. There isn't a game I've ran across that I haven't been able to run on this gaming laptop....well...except 1...because it is owned by Microsoft. Raytracing Minecraft.

Seriously all I wanted was to try RTX Minecraft but the dickheads at MS make it difficult as shit

Anyway setting Microsoft's bullshit aside, Pop OS! handles my nVidia chipset/video drivers in more ways than Windows can (Integrated, Nvidia, Hybird, Compute) and also runs my local AI with CUDA, pytorch n tensors n all that jazz, smooth as butter. The file system is a bit different, sure, that's probably your largest hurdle to figure out.

As for Plug n Play - I have this outboard piece of hardware called an Axe I/O which is a USB input designed for studios/guitars. On Windows you have to download their installer, then download the drivers, and it is a pain in the ass. Pop OS! just detects it (with the correct amount of inputs/outputs too!) when you plug n play. I've had multiple webcams and controllers just work with Pop OS! Linux and not Windows.

Aesthetics - Have you compared Windows 11 to Mac to Linux desktops lately? Even Microsoft is giving up the bottom left windows icon corner bullshit in favor of the sleek modernized icons in the middle. That's a battle I never thought they'd give up but here we are, Windows 11: the towel has been thrown in. The customization of Linux is endless and easy, so with Windows completely coping their aesthetic, they got NOTHING on the open source community.

I'd compare their bullshit desktop...

vs my sleek and stylish Pop OS! desktop anyday.

And besides, the irony of me sharing my desktop screenshot is...

...I did so voluntarily.
