Not Just A Coffee Bag..

Kingsley My cousin arrived earlier this year for the Yuletide holiday, and every time I see him, I remember exactly this time last year how he was still battling to break free from drug addiction. He is gradually becoming a better person, and what more can I ask for in a holiday order than spending it with my lovely cousin?

That morning, Kingsley was watching his favourite TV station while I was busy unpacking the groceries I bought last night, as I was too tired to do that yesterday.

I heard a beep on my phone: "When am I coming for the fittings of my outfit?" Shola, my client's message popped in as soon as I finished responding to her; my eyes caught the time, and it was exactly 8:55 am."

Kaycee, it's almost time for my favourite show; you'll have to excuse me for the next 45 minutes as I will be taking over the television," I told Kingsley, as I knew he wasn't a lover of K-drama.

"Oh, okay, I am no fan of K-drama anyway," he responded immediately as he stood up and pressed his phone while he walked into the bedroom.

At exactly 9 a.m., I was already seated in the living room in anticipation of the K-drama, but there was a delay in the starting time. Instead of seeing the highlight of the previous episode as usual, I saw a newscaster, and the headline looked ridiculous, but I had no choice but to listen to it as it was emergency news.
"A cartel has accidentally shipped out thousands of packages of drugs disguised as coffee bags, and they’ve been popping up all over the country."

"What kind of silly news is this?" I began to laugh, as it was so absurd. I quietly waited for the newscaster to be over with her business, as all I wanted to do was watch my K-drama.

I hurriedly went into the kitchen to fix myself a cup of coffee from one of the new coffee brands I bought yesterday. As soon as I opened one of the new coffee bags I bought, my hands brushed against something else that was hidden beneath the bag and was neatly packaged. It was not a coffee bean, but an illicit drug!

The door adjacent to the kitchen creaked and my cousin came out of the room, so I stylishly shut the kitchen door in order not to attract him to the kitchen with my reaction, "What?" I covered my mouth in fear and recalled the news I had just listened to about ten minutes ago.

Fear gripped me as I realized the gravity of my discovery. I was in two minds, unsure of who to trust—not my once-drug addict cousin, who might go back to sniffing drugs or reporting the package to the authorities, as it would be a very risky thing to do—"Do I want to be linked to or tagged as an accomplice?" I soliloquized, "No way!" I discreetly poured water into the contents and discarded them into my kitchen sink as I flushed it intentionally, leaving no trace of it.

I took a deep breath and sighed in relief, but I lost interest in the K-drama as I kept thinking about the consequences of my actions.
