My Handmade Jeans Slippers.π₯°π₯°
Standing before this prestigious community, I say "Good day! Beautiful members.
It's surely another Monday to get up and grind and best of all, it's the last day to submit the #needleworkyourjeans post and honestly, I am excited that I could still show up even though I had some difficulties along the line.
Firstly, I've been feeling off because I lost my aunt who is so close to me and ever since Friday, it's been a struggle to get up and show up, especially on what I love to do, so I took a little break, to just breathe.
Then, I remembered I tagged a few people the other day to join in the contest, it would be so bad of me not to even do something at all.
At about 6 pm yesterday Sunday, I started to think of what to do with my leftover jeans just to be a part of the contest.
I had to choose between making a wallet or a palm (flip flop) and finally settled for the latter.
I jumped off the process by sourcing the materials I would be needing to make it a reality.
Here is a picture of my jeans.
I worked with my pair of slippers, tape measure, carton, thread, needle, pencil, scissors and here is the picture of it.
I began this project by placing my slippers on the carton and tracing it out with my pencil for both legs and then I cut a pair for each leg which gave me four soles to work with.
I measured a straight carton of 12 inches in length by 5 inches in width and then I cut it out, I cut just two for this.
For each front cover I cut, I ensure I rolled it so it becomes easy to bend and work with and I did it for the second one as well.
I placed my sole on my jean and cut out my jean which will be used to cover the sole, using my needle and thread and then I began to stitch.
After stitching around one sole, I used the other one to cover it like I showed you in my picture and began to stitch around the front cover as well.
Here is the picture of how far I had gone, taking these pictures was like an encouragement to keep going because I was already feeling tired at some point.
I had finished sewing around the front cover and was ready to cover it with the other carton as seen in my picture.
Here, I began to sew all of them together, the sole and the front cover gradually.
The needle pricked me a lot of times but I kept enduring and securing the stitch anyways and I was almost done with the first leg.
At about 8 pm, my back began to ache, I was on the verge of giving up because I started to feel off again, but then I slammed in my music, took a little walk around my house and resumed hand sewing again.
It got to a point, the first color of my thread which was navy blue got exhausted and it was already late to get another one, that was one reason to just give up already but I convinced myself that no matter what, I haven't come this far to give up.
I started to look for another thread which was closer to the other colour, unfortunately, I didn't see one, so I settled for the royal blue thread as continued my stitch.
Thankfully, I was able to complete my stitch by about 10 pm.
I was too tired, so I went to sleep.
By morning today, I took a shot of them and you can see the different threads thereπ .
Well, I would have left it this way, but I felt I could do a little creativity on it again.
I went ahead to look for stones to design them with.
After looking for stones, I brought out my stoning machine and thankfully there was power supply so I started another round of work.
What will I be designing? Well, my name!! AMIE!!
Let me customise my slippers...
I had made the alphabet A here and so I proceeded...
And Tada...
AMIE has been successfully customized on my slippers and then I did the same for the other leg.
And here you have it. Done and dusted.
I felt very fulfilled as I was able to conquer all the hurdles around this project.
I rewarded myself with some Netflix and chillππ.
At this point, I had to put my photography skill into use, my background was an artificial grass and then I placed my handmade slippers on it and took this shot of my slippers with my name embedded on it.
I would be rocking these slippers only at home as the sole is made of just a carton.
When I wore it, it was so cosy and fluffy and I surely loved it so much.
What do you think?
Here is my jean project and honestly I am happy I could come up with something.
All images used are proudly mine and shot by me with my smartphone.
Oh mine this looks unique and beautiful, you've crafted a masterpiece with this and I'm really impressed.
Though I can speak for it durability but you did well and had it been a really sole it would have been more awesome.

Hehe, thanks a bunch, I don't want it for the long term though as it was a dying-minute decision, but hopefully I get to attach it to an old sole at home when I feel like it.
Thanks for visiting.
Yea you did an amazing job either way, keep up the good work.
Thanks again.

Hi @amiegeoffrey thanks for your entry to the contest. Your proyect is really nice.
Thank you so much for coming around.
How brilliant, dear @amiegeoffrey !! You give me a great inspiration here, as I am wanting to find my way into shoe-making, using recycled materials: and I thought to make slippers or sandals first... this is the perfect example of how I wanted to begin.
I was sorry to hear about your losing your aunt too, dear friend - I wish you healing and love, and the treasure of her precious memory - blessings.
Thank you so much for the kind comment.
I am also glad thisnoostbserved as an inspiration for you to begin your shoe-making journey. I wish you the best.
I'm so sorry about your aunt's departure, it's not easy to say goodbye unexpectedly to our loved ones π.
Your work on jeans turned out very well, despite the complications you managed to finish it and that's admirable, personally I almost don't like to sew by hand because I hate pricking my fingers π, I really congratulate you for completing this challenge and for the result so beautiful, I loved the detail of the stones, I love your little machine to place stones.
Friend, I think that one of the best solutions to distract ourselves from our problems is to occupy ourselves with something that we like and this is a good option, I hope you have a happy day and I wish you good luck in the contest
Thank you so much for taking the time to read through my blog and comforting me.
Thanks for the beautiful encouragement and review you left here as it goes a long way to put a smile on my face.
I am glad you cared about me, I wish you the best too.

(no space) to get help on Hive. InfoMy condolences for your loss Amie. I pray that comfort and peace fill up those empty parts you are experiencing right now. πΉ
I commend you for getting your project done. I love that shade of denim you used and the fact you used recycled materials is always a plus.
This was pretty clever for a quick slipper. Adding your name with bedazzle was a nice idea.
Thanks for your entry ~
Thank you so much ma'am for the comforting words, as they are much needed right now, and I am glad I could come up with something eventually. Your comment made my day.
