The struggle is real.

Have you ever felt the urge to write something and then you are lost for thought halfway through or experienced a creative slowdown along the line? Or your head just feels blank and you don't even know what to write? That's the struggle of writers. It is called writer's block.

You don't need to feel bad about this, we don't seem to get the inspiration all the time, sometimes the inspiration comes when you're about to lay your head to sleep, or probably because you're experiencing something similar, or from people around you, one can get inspired.

Have you ever thought of what could be the cause?
It could be that you lack the right resources, or you're not giving it enough time, or you're waiting for the perfect article to publish and so you fear failure or rejection from your readers.

So what then can you do?
Try something new.

We must have time alone, try thinking outside the box, and be observant of the things around us, nature, people, situations, and things that can inspire us to write.

Avoid self-doubt? The feeling of not being good enough can always be the cause of this condition.

Stop shoving all the ideas you come up with. Try and develop the ideas into something meaningful.

Create a creative habit.
When you feel inspired write as many articles as you can and save them as a draft. Make a regular schedule for this.

Create a niche.
You don't have to write on every topic, are you good at poems? Fiction? DIY? Or facts? Find what you're good at and give it your best.

Read.
Reading and research help you gain more ideas now and then. Find good books to read and occupy your mind with.

Create a title
Creating a title before you write might give you a sense of direction.

Join a writing community. This community helps you with prompts that inspire you to write, it could be on a picture or a particular topic, endeavor to join these prompts regularly.

Might it be stress?
Your brain is probably telling you to get some rest, take a walk in the park, see some movies and do something else in the meantime.

Have I ever experienced this?
Yes, so many times. So please don't feel you're alone in this.

Will I give up on writing?
No, never and not even anytime soon will I ever give up on writing. It was a struggle to write this article, but here I am, I could finish up this post with tips to help others with this battle.

Have you ever experienced this struggle? Can you share your tips on how you overcome yours?

Thank you for reading, I am Amie Geoffrey.

Hi Amie, the block is real. For those writing as a hobby it can be a frustration which leads to many days or weeks where nothing happens.
For yhose who do it as a job, it can be very frustrating!

I like to use a couple of different strategies to alleviate the issue. They work for me, most of the time.
If it's fiction I'm writing I'll try to write down what the character is doing or trying to achieve, and spend a few mins thinking about that.
If it's non-fiction it's similar, but considering what I want the article to achieve.

I also gind it useful to habe projects to move between. Some days I cant get into a fiction headspace, other times its easy.

And a break to walk, cycle, swim, or sit and stare at the scenery can be a great way to let the forebrain consider something different, while the back brain tears down a seemingly insurmountable problem.

Writer's block is real, the best way is to relax and let your mind do the work.

Most times I have nothing to write, either fiction, non-fiction, poem, or normal creative writing, all I do is breathe in and out, listen to music or watch a movie, and rest.

Then the miracles come in while sleeping or in the bath 😂😂😂.

Sometimes the mind needs a rest and reset. All the other suggestions below are one of the answers to your writer's block. There's one more thing, when you consume something (books, movies, etc) it may give you some inspiration/ motivation that you needed to write. So, consuming content and engaging with others may help you overcome it too. Anyway, there's a community called " Rant, Talk and Complain" https://peakd.com/c/hive-196233 . Seems like your concern like this could fit there and if you wish to gain more exposure, you can use Peakd option to crosspost. Cheers.
