La voz cantante WEEK #55 / The House of the Rising Sun / Cover (Español/Ingles)
Letra
There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know I'm one
My mother was a tailor
She sewed my new blue jeans
My father was a gamblin' man
Down in New Orleans
Now the only thing a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and a trunk
And the only time he'll be satisfied
Is when he's all drunk
Oh, mother, tell your children
Not to do what I have done
Spend your lives in sin and misery
In the House of the Rising Sun
Well, I got one foot on the platform
The other foot on the train
I'm goin' back to New Orleans
To wear that ball and chain
Well, there is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know I'm one.

The Singing Voice WEEK #55 / The House of the Rising Sun / Cover (English/Spanish)
A friendly greeting dear Hivers, I find myself rocking with you once again, this time to close the week in the most rocking community of all Hive, Pukumundo. This time I'm going to share with you my humble instrumental interpretation of the song "The House of the Rising Sun" by the British rock band The Animals, released in 1964. This is actually an American folk song, whose origins date back to the 1500s. Its author is unknown, but the most famous version is by The Animals.
This is the first time I play this song, but it has always been part of my life, since my childhood when my father played it on the guitar. Later I would discover that it was The House of the Rising Sun and the long history of this beautiful song. In the same way it happened to me with Stairway to heaven by Led Zeppelin, I listened to it as a child on my dad's guitar without knowing what it was about, until I grew up and got to know a little of these songs.
The reason why my dad never knew how to tell us the stories of these songs is because he didn't know them either. He learned to play the guitar thanks to a drunk old man who used to go to his dad's liquor store, from a very young age he was always adrift with little attention and affection from his parents. He did not finish school and as he grew up he became a poorly paid and almost illiterate worker, however he never forgot the songs he learned on the guitar as a child and in my house there was always the presence of his guitar, which he used to play at parties.
Now after many years I am encouraged to revive this song, on my own guitar. I will keep playing it until the arpeggio sounds more confident to me, I am sure many of you have some history with The House of the Rising Sun, I leave this fragment and its beautiful lyrics. I hope you like it.
