La historia de mi actual hogar inició 10 años atrás
El 1ero de marzo de este año se cumplieron 10 años desde el día que mi familia y yo nos mudamos a nuestra casa. Es la primera casa que compramos con nuestros ahorros y también la única que tenemos, cuando nos casamos vivíamos alquilados en el apartamento de una prima que estaba fuera del país y luego en la casa de mis padres, cuidándola, ya que ellos se habían mudado a Caracas.

Todos juntos, revueltos pero cómodos
Cuando nosotros nos mudamos a Caracas vivíamos en el apartamento de mis padres por alrededor de 3 años, todo ese tiempo estuvimos en nuestro proyecto de encontrar nuestra propia casa. Eso no era muy fácil pero la determinación fue importante así como la organización.

Donde comen dos comen tres
En ese momento teníamos tres hijos y queríamos encontrar un apartamento grande o una casa para que cada uno tuviera su habitación, o por lo menos contarán con un buen espacio, ah! y también con suficientes baños.

Había que arroparse hasta donde llega la cobija
Pero con la cantidad de dinero que habíamos logrado reunir no era posible encontrar en lugar de Caracas que nos gustara un apartamento con las condiciones que aspiramos, así que comenzamos a buscar por los alrededores, por las ciudades satélites como La Guaira, Guarenas y San Antonio de los Altos. San Antonio era la zona que más nos gustaba pero sin embargo el presupuesto no se adaptaba a lo que había disponible.

The story of my current home began 10 years ago.
March 1st of this year marked 10 years since the day my family and I moved into our house. It is the first house we bought with our savings and the only one we have; when we got married, we lived in a cousin's apartment that was out of the country, and then in my parents' house, taking care of them since they had moved to Caracas.

All together, messy but comfortable.
When we moved to Caracas, we lived in my parents' house for about 3 years, all the time we were in our project of finding our own house. It was not easy, but it took determination and organization.

Where two eat two eat three.
At that time we had three children and we wanted to find a big apartment or house so that each of them had a room, or at least a good space, and at least enough bathrooms.

You had to tuck yourself in as far as the blanket would go!
But with the amount of money we had managed to raise, it was not possible to find an apartment in Caracas with the conditions we were looking for, so we started to look around, in the satellite cities such as La Guaira, Guarenas and San Antonio de los Altos. San Antonio was the area we liked the most, but the budget did not match what was available.

La búsqueda iba en serio
En ese tiempo conversamos con un primo que vive en San Antonio de los Altos pidiendo orientación sobre dónde buscar casa y él nos recomendó que intentáramos por los pueblos que están en las afueras de San Antonio, ya que eran bastante cerca y muy tranquilos, y así fue que nos atrevimos a buscar casa en lugares que ni siquiera habíamos visitado ni una sola
vez.

Vimos como tres casas en la zona, lo que más me gustaba precisamente es que eran casas y no apartamentos, ya que en Maracaibo yo estaba acostumbrada a vivir en casas y me
gusta mucho más.

Hasta que por fin la encontramos
Recuerdo que el día que visitamos nuestro actual hogar por primera vez al tomar la calle que conduce hasta la casa yo iba arrepentida de haber ido porque la calle estaba en muy
mal estado por tantos huecos en el pavimento, se veía que el asfalto no había sido reparado en años. Al llegar a la casa ya estaba predispuesta a aceptarla por la mala vialidad.

We saw about three houses in the area, and what I liked the most was that they were houses and not apartments, because in Maracaibo I was used to living in houses and I like it much better.

Until we finally found it.
I remember that the first day we visited our current home, when we took the road that leads to the house, I regretted having gone there because the road was in a very bad condition due to the many holes in the road.

I could see that the asphalt had not been repaired for years. When I arrived at the house, I was already inclined to accept it because of the bad roads.

Amor a pimera vista
Pero cuando entré a la casa y vi sus grandes ventanales con ese paisaje tan hermoso cambié de opinión al instante. La casa es de dos pisos y tiene suficiente espacio para que cada niño tenga su habitación, tenía una habitación extra que era una un estudio, luego cuando nació la niña Amelie, distribuímos todo y cada uno se quedó con una habitación.

¿Tanto espacio para nada?
Pero recordando todo bien en este momentos, las cosas fueron así: a pesar de que cada quien tenía su espacio, como estaban pequeños ellos prefirieron acomodarse todos en la misma habitación, eso era muy gracioso, pero valió la pena, porque sabíamos que crecerían y necesitarían su espacio con privacidad.

Efectivamente cuando el mayor de los niños cumplió 10 años fue el primero en pedir cambiarse de habitación y de esta manera fue el primero en tener su cuarto solo.

Una anécdota muy particular de aquellos tiempos era, que cuando ya crecieron a pesar que cada niño tenía su habitación cada noche ellos dormían todos juntos en una misma.

Love at first sight.
But when I walked into the house and saw the big windows and the beautiful landscape, I immediately changed my mind. But as I remember it now, it went like this: although each one had his own room, when they were little they preferred to stay in the same room, it was very funny, but it was worth it because we knew that they would grow up and need their own space with privacy.

In fact, when the oldest of the children turned 10, he was the first to ask for a change of room, and so he was the first to have his own room.

A very special anecdote from that time was that when they grew up, even though each child had his own room, they all slept together in the same room every night.

Acabo de darme cuenta que tengo tantas cosas que contar de la casa que no puede ser un solo post. En resumen, debo decir que la libertad que tienen los niños para jugar y divertirse y la hermosa vista a las montañas y el clima son lo más especial que tiene.

Hay muchas cosas que debemos hacer que en estos años se han vuelto imposibles económicamente para nosotros. Pero por sobre todas las cosas debemos dar gracias a que ya la tenemos para nosotros y que logramos adquirirla en el momento preciso antes de que todo se volviera cuesta arriba.

I just realized that I have so many things to tell about the house that it can't be a single post. In short, I must say that the freedom for the children to play and have fun and the beautiful view of the mountains and the weather are the most special things about it.

There are many things we have to do that have become financially impossible for us in these years. But most of all, we should be thankful that we already have it and that we managed to get it at the right time, before everything went uphill.

El proyecto más urgente que tenemos en este momento es la impermeabilización del techo, la pintura de las paredes de afuera, y seguidamente espero poder remodelar la cocina, ya
que tiene mucho potencial es espaciosa y cómoda y con esa ventana que me encanta por la vista pero los gabinetes ya tienen muchos años y están bastante deteriorados, de verdad que no es por capricho si no que ya la encimera necesita ser renovada, es posible aprovechar las puertas de madera de los gabinetes porque son de buen material y se pueden renovar, pero la estructura de la encimera es el mayor problema.

En marzo de este año, cuando cumplimos los 10 años de vivir aquí y hasta hicimos una cena especial los seis por eso, pensé hacer un post al respecto, pero se me fueron pasando los días sin hacer nada. porque estaba comprometida con los retos de Hives Top model y otras cosas mas y andaba muy complicada. Por eso agradezco mucho a esta iniciativa de la comunidad Home Solutions que me animó y revivió las ganas de contarle un poco sobre la historia de mi casa.

Projects between needs and wishes.

In March of this year, when we celebrated 10 years of living here and we even had a special dinner for the six of us, I thought about writing a post about it, but the days went by without doing anything because I was committed to the Hives Top Model challenges and other things and I was very complicated.
