Hello all Hivians and good people of the Gems community. Most of us may not be aware of some major happenings or events around the globe that took place on this day many years ago. I will therefore take us round the globe in a giffey to have a look at some of those historical events that took place on this day, thursday the 24/10/2024 in history.

We begin today from the world of international organizations. Do you know that on this day in 1945, The charter for the United Nations, the world's premier international organisation founded at the end of World War II to promote world peace and cordial relations among nations, went into effect.

From the world of international organizations, we move over to the world of aviation. Do you also know that on this day in 2003, British Airways flew its last Concorde flight, marking the end of supersonic passenger service; Air France had discontinued similar operations in May.

From the world of aviation, we move over to Chile. Now, on this day in 1970, Salvador Allende's election as Chile's first Marxist President was confirmed.

From Chile, we move over to the USA. Do you know that on this day in 1940, The United States Fair Labour Standards Act of 1938 established the 40-hour workweek.

From the USA, we move over to Italy. Now, on this day in 1922, Benito Mussolini helped prepare the March on Rome, which began on October 28 and concluded in him becoming Italy's dictator.

Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in history from the world of music. Do you know that on this day in 1986, Drake, a Canadian rapper who rose to prominence as an actor on the critically acclaimed TV adolescent drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation before embarking on a successful and influential music career, was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
