Today In History: 12 December 2024
Hello all Hivians and good people of the Gems community. The volatility of the crypto world continues today as BTC traded at some point today above $100,000.00, up to $102,000.00 but quickly plummeted to around $98,000.00 few minutes ago. Am sure it will.surge forward again hopefully by tomorrow. Let us also have a look at today in history, the 12/12/2024. What a unique day too. We will begin today's look at history from the home front.... Nigeria.
We begin today from Nigeria [The relocation of the nation's capital from Lagos to Abuja]. On this day in 1991, the Federal Republic of Nigeria moved its nation's capital from Lagos to Abuja.
From Nigeria, we move over to the East African country of Kenya [Kenya became a Republic]. Do you also know that on this day in 1964, Kenya became a Republic a year after she gained her independence from Britain.
From Kenya, we move over to Cameroon. [the birth of Manu Dibango]. Now, on this day in 1933, Manu Dibango, a Cameroonian musician ( a saxophonist per excellence) was born Douala, Cameroon. Happy posthumous birthday 🎂 to him.
From Cameroon, we move over to the reggae nation, Jamaica[the birthday 🎂 of Portia Simpson Miller]. Do you know that on this day in 1945, Portia Simpson Miller, a Jamaican female politician who was the country's Prime Minister from 2006 – 2007; then from 2012–2016; in fact the country's first female Prime Minister, was born in Wood Hall, St. Catherine parish, Jamaica. Happy birthday to her.
Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in history from Tanganyika [the birthday of Marc Ravalomanana]. Do you know that on this day in 1949, Marc Ravalomanana, a Malagasy politician and one time Prime Minister of Madagascar from 2002–2009 was born in Imerikasina, Madagascar. Marc Ravalomanana while serving as the Prime Minister of Madagascar was forced to step down from office due to some political crisis in 2009. He ultimately went into exile thereafter although he returned to the country some years later.
My good people, that will be all from me today. Let's do it again tomorrow.
Happy Republic day to the Kenyan people.
