Hello all Hivians and good people of the Gems community. It is time to go round the globe to have a look at today in history being thursday the 19/12/2024. Christmas is fast approaching as it is now remaining six days to Christmas. The highways are becoming busy with people travelling to their various homes for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Well, we will begin today's look at history from the literary world.
We begin today from the world of literature [The publication of A Christmas Carol]. On this day in 1843, A Christmas Carol was published by Charles Dickens and the book became one of the outstanding Christmas stories of the modern literature.
From the world of literature, we move over to the United States of America [the impeachment of Bill Clinton by the House of Representatives]. Do you also know that on this day in 1998, the House of Representatives impeached then President Bill Clinton after charging him for perjury and obstruction of congress. However, the Senate acquitted him the following month.
From the USA, we move over to Pakistan [the election of Park Geun-Hye as President]. Now, on this day in 2012, Park Geun-Hye was elected President of South Korea. Thus, she became the first female to be elected to that position. She was however sworn in the following year.
From South Korea, we move over to India [the birthday of Pratibha Patil]. Do you know that on this day in 1934, Pratibha Patil, the first female President of India (2007–2012) was born in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, India.
Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in history from South Korea [the birthday of
Lee Myung-Bak]. Do you know that on this day in 1941, Lee Myung-Bak thr President of south Korea from from 2008 to 2013 and one tine Mayor of Seoul (2002–2006) was born in Ōsaka, Japan.
