Larry Is Alive February 29, 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for thursday, the 29th day of February, 2024. It is the official last day of the month of February, 2024. We thank God for his goodness. Anyway, Manchester United yesterday secured an FA Cup quarterfinal clash against old rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford next month courtesy of a Casemiro's 89th-minute winner over Nottingham Forest.

In the other match of the day, Liverpool rolled over Southampton (3-0) to also advance while Chelsea defeated Leeds United (3-2) on the night to progress as well.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from Bosnia. He finds out that beginning on this day in 1992, the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina held an independence referendum that received nearly unanimous approval, and independence was declared on March 3, causing Serbian forces to shell the area.

From Bosnia, Larry goes to Czechoslovakia. He finds out that on this day in 1920, the National Assembly, elected by Czech and Slovak leaders, enacted a new, democratic constitution, further consolidating the two states into Czechoslovakia.

From Czechoslovakia, Larry goes to England. He finds out that on this day in 1604, John Whitgift, Archbishop of Canterbury, who did much to strengthen the Anglican church during Elizabeth I's final years and ensure its acceptance by her successor, James I, died in London.

From England, Larry goes to El Salvador. He finds out that on this day in 1924, Carlos Humberto Romero, former general, who was elected President of El Salvador in 1977 and deposed in 1979, died in Chalatenango, El Salvador.

From El Salvador, Larry goes to Russia. He finds out that on this day in 1952, Raisa Smetanina, a Russian cross-country skier, who was the first woman to win 10 Olympic Winter Games medals, was born in Komi, Russia, U.S.S.R.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Turkey. He finds out that on this day in 1944, Pehr Evind Svinhufvud, who was the first chief of state of independent Finland, serving as Prime Minister before becoming President, died in Luumäki, Finland.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
