Larry Is Alive 8 July 2024: I Am Alive Challenge
Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for Monday, the 8th day of July, 2024. Happy new week everyone. Who'll win the Euro 2024 hosted by Germany? So far only four teams are now left in the tournament. The said four teams are now preparing for the semi-finals, with Spain facing France on Tuesday and England taking on the Netherlands the next day.
Spain is attempting to win the competition for the fourth time, having most recently won in 2012. France last won it 24 years ago, while the Netherlands won in 1988 - and England, of course, is looking to end their wait for their first men's European Championship.
So who'll win this year's competition? Well let's keep our fingers crossed as the semi-finals take centre stage starting from tomorrow
Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.
Larry begins his look at today in history from the world of explorers and exploration. He finds out that on this day in 1497, Vasco da Gama sailed from Lisbon with a fleet of four ships, eventually opening a sea passage from western Europe to Asia via the Cape of Good Hope, ushering in a new era in world history.
From the world of explorers and exploration, Larry goes to North Korea. He finds out that on this day in 2005, Kim Il-Sung, the communist leader of North Korea from 1948 died in Pyongyang, North Korea. He served as the country's Premier from 1948 to 1972, chairman of the dominant Korean Workers' Party from 1949, and President and Head of State from 1972.
From North Korea, Larry goes to the world of space exploration. He finds out that on this day in 2011, the orbiter Atlantis was launched on the last space shuttle mission.
From the world of space exploration, Larry goes to the world of music and entertainment. He finds out that on this day in 1996, the British all girls pop band the Spice Girls released their debut single, Wannabe, which helped make them an international sensation.

From the world of music and entertainment, Larry goes to Japan.He finds out that on this day in 2022 Shinzo Abe, a Japanese politician, who twice served as the Prime Minister of Japan (2006–07 and 2012–20) died in Nara, Japan. His 2022 assassination sent shockwaves throughout Japan.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from the USA. He finds out that on this day in 2019, the United States women's football team, led by Megan Rapinoe, defeated the Netherlands to win their fourth World Cup.
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
