Larry Is Alive 24 July 2024: I Am Alive Challenge
Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for wednesday, the 24th day of July, 2024. It was a day of draws for Premier League clubs in their US tour as both Arsenal, Chelsea, Bournemouth and Wrexhem played out draws in their warm up matches.
The match between Arsenal and Bournemouth in Los Angeles, US ended in a (1-1) with Arsenal winning on penalties; while Chelsea vs Wrexham in Santa Clara, US ended in a (2-2) draw. That was Maresca's first match as a Chelsea coach.
Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.
Larry begins his look at today in history from Canada. He finds out that on this day in 1814, British troops led by General Phineas Riall repelled an invasion of Canada by a US army led by General Jacob Brown in the Battle of Lundy's Lane during the War of 1812.
From Canada, Larry goes to the world of astronauts and cosmonauts. He finds out that on this day in 1984, Svetlana Yevgenyevna Savitskaya, a Soviet cosmonaut, became the first woman to walk in space.
From the world of astronauts and cosmonauts, Larry goes to the world of aviation. He finds out that on this day in 2011, a Concorde supersonic plane—Air France flight 4590—crashed outside Paris, killing all 109 passengers on board and four others on the ground; the occurrence was believed to precipitate the termination of all Concorde operations three years later.
From the world of aviation, Larry goes to India. He finds out that on this day in 2007, Pratibha Patil, an Indian lawyer and politician, was sworn in as India's President, making her the first woman to hold the office.
From India, Larry goes to the world of medical conditions and discoveries. He finds out that on this day in 1978, SLouise Brown, the first human conceived via in vitro fertilisation, was born in Lancashire, England.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Puerto Rico. He finds out that on this day in 1952, Puerto Rico attained its own government as a commonwealth of the United States.
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
