Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.
Larry begins his look at today in history from Russia. He finds out that on this day in 1613, Michael Romanov was crowned Tsar of Russia, thus establishing the Romanov dynasty.
From Russia, Larry goes to Sri Lanka. He finds out that on this day in 1960, Sirimavo Bandaranaike, a politician, became the world's first female Prime Minister when she took office in Ceylon [later Sri Lanka].
From Sri Lanka, Larry goes to the world of astraunuts and cosmonauts. He finds out that on this day in 1961, during Project Mercury, Virgil I. ("Gus") Grissom became the second American to enter into space.
From the world of astraunuts and cosmonauts, Larry goes to the Antarctica. He finds out that on this day in 1983, the world's lowest recorded temperature, −128.6 °F (−89.2 °C), was measured at Vostok Station, Antarctica.
From the Antarctica, Larry goes to the world of space exploration. He finds out that on this day in 2011, the United States space shuttle programme came to an end after 135 missions as the orbiter Atlantis landed at NASA's John F. Kennedy Space Centre in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Nigeria. He finds out that on this day in 1944, Buchi Emecheta, an Igbo writer whose works mostly address the challenging and unequal role of women in immigrant and African societies, as well as the friction between tradition and modernization was born in Lagos, Nigeria.
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
