Larry Is Alive #106 I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone. It's sunday and Larry goes to church to thank God for seeing him through the week. Thereafter, Larry reflects on the ongoing Women's World Cup 2023 co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia. A particular result caught his attention and nobody saw it coming. It is France vs Jamaica in Group F. All hail the "Reggae Girlz", Jamaica. They pulled a massive result for themselves, holding the "Les Bleues" (France) to a goalless score. The other match will see Brazil square up against Panama. Will the Seleção overrun their Panamanian "Las Canaleras" counterpart? We keep our fingers crossed. Larry turns his attention to a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from Africa, precisely the land of the Pharaohs, Egypt. He finds out that on this day in 1952, the Free Officers, a nationalist military faction led by Colonel Gamal Abdel Nasser, staged a coup that deposed Egypt's King Farouk I, bringing the monarchy to an end and brought Nasser to power.

Larry remains in Africa and his next point of call is Ethiopia. He finds out that on this day in 1892, Haile Selassie I, whose original name was Tafari Makonnen was born near Harer, Ethiopia. Haile Selassie was the Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 to 1974.

From Africa, Larry jets into the Americas. Do we still remember Monica Lewinsky? Well, gentlemen, Monica Samille Lewinsky, the American activist, public speaker, and writer was born on this day in 1973 in San Francisco, California, U.S.A. Records have it that Monica Lewinsky, while serving as a White House intern in 1995–1996, had a sexual relationship with the then U.S. President Bill Clinton which became a scandal and led to his impeachment [the House of Representatives approved two articles of impeachment (perjury and obstruction of justice)] but Bill Clinton was acquitted by the Senate in 1999.

This peice of history makes Larry to smile silently to himself. "Women and their magical powers"!!!

Larry moves to the music and entertainment industry. He finds out that on this day in 2011, Amy Winehouse, a British singer-songwriter who won five Grammy Awards for her Motown-inspired Back to Black (2006) album but struggled with substance abuse, died at the age of 27 from alcohol poisoning. Motown, which full name is Motown Record Corporation, also called Hitsville is a recording company.

From the world of music Larry jets into the Persian gulf, precisely in Oman. Larry finds out that on this day in 1970, Sultan Saʿīd ibn Taymūr of Oman was overthrown by his son, Qaboos bin Said, in a palace coup. Whoops whoops!!!

Finally, Larry decides to round off his look at today in history from the world of automobile. And that's what he uses to do his business too, !LOL. He finds out that on this day in 1903, Ford Motor Company sold its first automobile, a Ford Model A. Then, five years later it introduced the hugely influential Model T.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry sips his remaining coffee and reclines to have a nap.
