Larry Is Alive 1 July 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for monday, the 1st day of July, 2024. Happy new month everyone. Welcome to the seventh month of the year. It is also the second half of the year. How time flies really.

In the ongoing UEFA European Championship - Last 16 tie, at the Arena AufSchalke, England survived another desperate effort and a major scare to defeat Slovakia in dramatic manner and advance to the round of eight, thanks to a brilliant moment from Jude Bellingham. The game ended (2-1) in favour of England. As such, England will now face Switzerland in the last eight.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from Canada. He finds out that on this day in 1867, The Dominion of Canada was formed, and it is now commemorated as an annual Canadian holiday (the present name, Canada Day, was adopted in 1982), with parades, fireworks, and flag displays.

From Canada, Larry goes to the world of international organisations. He finds out that n this day in 2002, The International Criminal Court (ICC), which was formed to prosecute and adjudicate individuals accused of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, began sitting.

From the world of international organisations, Larry goes to Hong Kong. He finds out that on this day in 1997, the crown colony of Hong Kong officially returned to Chinese sovereignty thus ending 156 years of British rule.

From Hong Kong, Larry goes to the world of gadgets and techs. He finds out that on this day in 1979, Sony began marketing the Walkman, a handheld cassette player that became an international hit and revolutionised the way people listened to music.

From the world of gadgets and techs, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1971, Missy Elliott (whose real name is Melissa Arnette Elliott), an American rapper and music producer who rose to prominence in the male-dominated hip-hop scene through her writing, rapping, singing, and music producing skills was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, U.S.A.

Larry feels like dropping one of the songs of Missy Elliott that he loves singing titled: "All N My Grill". Please sit back and enjoy it too.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from England. He finds out that on this day in 1961, Diana, Princess of Wales, the former consort (1981-96) of Charles, Prince of Wales (later Charles III); mother to Prince William, the heir apparent to the British throne; and one of the most prominent celebrities of her time was born in Sandringham, Norfolk, England.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
