Trip to Romania - Part 1 - Rodnei Mountains

Przedstawiam relację z zeszłorocznego wyjazdu na Rumunię. Wypad był krótki, ponieważ ja i moja dziewczyna mieliśmy tylko tydzień wolnego. Z tego też powodu postanowiliśmy pojechać na północ kraju, tak by dojazd zajął nam jak najmniej czasu. W związku z tym na cel wyjazdu wybraliśmy region Maramuresz (Maramureș). Głównym celem wyjazdu były góry Rodiańskie i trekking na najwyższy szczyt tego pasma Pietrosul ( 2 303 m n.p.m.). Poza tym chcieliśmy pokręcić się po tamtejszych szlakach, zabiwakować gdzieś w górach, a następnie ruszyć dalej w stronę kolejnego, niższego już pasma Gór Gutâi (Munţii Gutâi), zahaczając po drodze o Maramureskie wioski oraz zabytkowe cerkwie. Mimo niewielkiej ilości czasu plan udało się zrealizować w stu procentach, a nawet rozszerzyć go o wizytę w drodze powrotnej na Słowacji i zwiedzanie zamku Spiskiego.

Ze względu na sporą ilość zdjęć postanowiłem podzielić te relację na dwie części. W pierwszej skupię się na Górach Rodiańskich, a za tydzień postaram się wrzucić część drugą opisującą resztę wyjazdu.

I’d like to present a report on last year's trip to Romania. The trip was short, because my girlfriend and I only had a week off. For this reason, we decided to go to the north of the country, so that it would take us as little time as possible to get there. We chose the Maramures region as our destination for the trip. The main goal of the trip was the Rodnei mountains (Munții Rodnei) and trekking to the highest peak of the range, Pietrosul (2303 m). In addition, we wanted to hike some other trails, camp somewhere in the mountains, and then move further. Our next destination was the lower, Gutin mountains (Munții Gutâi). Along the way we visited Maramures villages and historic Orthodox churches. Despite the limited amount of time, we managed to complete our plan, and even expanded it to a visit the Spiš Castle in Slovakia on the way back .

Due to the large number of photos, I decided to divide this post into two parts. In the first I will focus on the Rodnei Mountains, and in a week I will try to upload part two describing the rest of the trip.

Szlaki w górach Rodiańskich przypominają mi nieco Tatry zachodnie. Szlaki są malownicze, jednocześnie na ma na nich znaczących trudności technicznych. Mimo tego widoki są niesamowite.
ENG:
The trails in the Rodnei Mountains remind me of the Western Tatras. The trails are picturesque, and at the same time there are no significant technical difficulties on them. Nevertheless, the views are amazing.

Szczyt Pietrosul wznosi się na wysokość 2303 m n.p.m., szlak na szczyt nie jest trudny technicznie, wymaga za to pokonania sporego przewyższenia.

The summit of Pietrosul reaches an altitude of 2303 meters above sea level. The trail to the summit is not technically difficult, but requires crossing a large height difference.

PL:
Przez Góry Rodiańskie poprowadzony jest szlak pozwalający przejść całe pasmo. Po wizycie na Pietrosulu już wiem, że na pewno kiedyś będę chciał tu wrócić aby go przejść.

There is a trail through the Rhodian mountains that allows you to hike the entire range. After visiting Pietrosul, I already know that I will definitely want to return here one day to trek it.

PL:
Biwakowanie na Rumunii jest legalne praktycznie wszędzie. Dlatego trekkingi po tutejszych szlakach są bardzo przyjemne, ponieważ nie trzeba przejmować się organizacją noclegów w schroniskach. Dodatkowo ilość osób spotkanych w górach jest bardzo niewielka w porównaniu do, na przykład Tatr, czy innych polskich gór. My zdecydowaliśmy się na noclegi na polu namiotowym w pobliżu wyjścia na szlak na Pietrosul, oraz spanie na dziko w aucie w górach.

Camping in Romania is legal practically everywhere. That's why trekking on the trails here is very pleasant, no need to plan accommodation in advance. Moreover the number of people you meet on the trails is very small compared to other, more popular mountains, like Polish Tatra mountains. We decided to spend the first two nights at a campsite near the start point of the trail to Pietrosul, and other nights to sleep in a car in the mountains.

Muszę przyznać, że Góry Rodiańskie zrobiły na mnie ogromne wrażenie, pomimo, że wcześniej miałem już okazję wędrować po pasmach na południu kraju. Nie będę opisywał tutaj szczegółów technicznych, szlaków, tras itp. ponieważ w internecie znajdziecie masę informacji na ten temat.

I must admit that these mountains made a huge impression on me despite the fact that I had already had the opportunity to hike in the mountains in the south of Romania. I won't describe the technical details, trails, routes, etc., because you will find a lot of information on the Internet.
