is it worth spending time on Tap to Earn Games ?

This year we have seen a new crypto gaming segment called tap to earn or mini-games in Telegram. It's up to you whatever you call it but I think people are calling this segment either by one of the names. We have seen some big projects in terms of market hype and it was expected that the community will be benefited in a way that has never happened before. Even people were saying that this new segment will replace play-to-earn games, but I don't think it will ever happen. If we look at the projects we have in this new segment and whatever they have distributed as part of the airdrop then it is clear that it will never replace the traditional gaming projects in Crypto. I know that it is also part of play to earn because these are the games that we play in the Telegram application and at the end of the day it's all done because of some monetary benefits.

This new model is different because here projects are not earning anything since they have not enabled the option to invest for the players. This is why it is not practical for them to reward a big amount to the community and doing the airdrop distribution is another challenge for them if they go with a higher amount. If we talk about the earlier play-to-earn games projects then some things have been developed over the years. Players have the option to invest and improve their overall gaming and also the rewards which is a working model but this is lacking in this new segment.

For example, if I talk about hamster combat which is one of the biggest games in the segment but their airdrop distribution was pathetic. Players were not happy because they did not get what they were expecting and it is obvious because how can any project reward its community without generating any revenue? I don't think there is anything in the game that is available for investing and that is why making everything free for the players and rewarding them for spending some time on the game is not a practical model. Maybe later on they will open the options for the investors or the players who want to invest in different assets but it's not going to be that easy.

We need to understand that no project in the world can continue to reward people for free and this is why the current gaming model in mini-apps is not going to work. Even though I have spent a couple of months on hamster combat the reward distribution was not even $10 which is a waste of time for me and I'm not alone because many players have got a similar reward.

If I talk about the other gaming projects that have been building in the crypto space for many years then that model is way better and it is reliable. Its reliable because they are not free to play games which means anyone who is part of the game has invested in different assets which is what helped the project to gain some revenue. This revenue is distributed among the players and also some part of it is used for game development. Although many play-to-earn games could not survive long even after doing great during the bull run. This is the case when those gaming projects have got great funding through the different sale events and now when we talk about mini-games where revenue is not available at all then how can these gaming projects survive?

I'm not saying that you should not play those games but I think based on my experience I can say that if you are spending too much time on these games then you are not going to get anything worth your time. Undoubtedly such games are good to play and fun but I am not fine to spend a lot of my time on such games where the outcome is not worth my time. As far as Airdrop is concerned and I can be eligible by participating and doing some tasks then it is fine but I'm not fine to spend a few hours daily just to keep on tapping on the screen and increasing the points I'm going to get as an Airdrop.

Thank you

I hate this genre in general. They usually get marketed as idle games but requires active involvement from the user and goes slow when the user is logged out. That's just false advertisement.

I am fan of play-to-earn games. If the rewards compensate well for the efforts.

Apparently not after seeing the disappointment and anger from players on twitter.
