Through the Catacombs of San Gennaro
As you know i am visiting Naples a wonderful historically significant city. All together culture, art, architecture, fine cuisine and amazing beaches. For today I invite you to the mysterious catacombs of San Gennaro, Italy located under the hill of Capodimonte, easy to reach even by bus. They are the largest catacombs in Naples with a cemetery complex that extends for many miles. Decorated with magnificent frescoes and mosaics, they are like a bond that connects the city with its patron saint San Gennaro. They are dating back to the early Christian era, an impressive art and architecture work. The ancient catacombs are named after San Gennaro, Naples' much admired patron of saints.
The catacombs are dividet into two main levels, upper and lowwer part.
The catacombs can you visit only throght guidet tours, entry 14 Euro. Walking through the underground corridorsis a mystical experience. We didn't have many visitors on our tour it was beautiful weather on that day.
In any case, a special underground adventure through 2,400 years of history, from the ancient Greeks to modern times, which reveals Naples from an archaeological, historical and geological point of view.
Thanks for your visit, have a great day!
