Today I invite you along Altdorf the capital of canton Uri in Central Switzerland. Near the lake Lucerne a little above where the Reuss flows in Lake Uri, sourrounded by the Alps make the place an beautiful destination for tourists and locals. Here in the city is much to discover, both old and new, such as the world-famous Tell statue, which is still a reminder of Switzerland's origins. To explore by foot the charming old town, cultural landmarks or take a trip in the mountains or lake is always in every season a pleasure.

The monument William Tell was erected about 1895. The statue shows Tell as a strong figure, holding a crossbow in one hand with his soon. The legent tell that Tell was a skilled marksman refused to bow to the hat in Habsburg time. The legend is belived to have taken place in the early 14th century. Gessler ordered him to shoot an apple in two off the head of his soon with his croosbow. With a happy ending, W. Tell split successfully the apple without harming his soon. Later Tell assassinated Gessler, igniting a rebelion.

Such blue sky and green mountains in the back of the town. Most interesting story, I heard about William Tell as a kid! I would love to visit this town one day. I shall read more on William Tell.

Haven't been to this part of Switzerland yet, but it seems like a lovely location to enjoy summertime. I really liked the interior of the church, it's nice. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful location with us...
